Wouldn't be surprised to hear an agreement has already been made to sign him in the summer, Chelsea supposedly ruled out a loan & Conor was reported to rule out Everton & claim to prefer a Palace move. If we're unable to justify that amount in January, preferring to buy one / loan one we may be biding our time to splash out in a few months.

There is much discussion here about how much he would cost in the summer window but have we any idea what wages he would want?

£40million plus £100K a week wages and him wanting European football would rule him out on all 3 counts.

Far better to forget him and concentrate on bargains to be had in Europe, Africa and South America.

Brighton has shown how to profit this way.

Brighton have got Tony Bloom which is a bit like comparing Ayew with Messi.

As much as I love him, and agree with Syd's mitigations, I'm with you here.

I'd be more than happy sticking to a model that is designed to buy players for less than we sell them at. Easier said than done eh.

I love Connor, but when you are buying at £400m, that's harder to do. I'm not sure he has the technical talent to be an £80m player in 5 years....

For comparison, Brighton paid around £40m for White, Bissouma and Cucurella, and sold for £140m.

Comments on Chelsea site are they like him but don't think his skill set matches Chelsea's needs and that if he's not good enough for them why should he be good enough for other top 6/7 clubs?

He will likely not play much now for the rest of the season.
Can Chelsea send him abroad on loan to get playing time?
Chelsea do like to muck around with young players lives - they really are a shocking club and worse now under the new guys.

Yes. The big IF though if he's available for bids to be made and IF we can afford to make an offer? There's a lot of other key players who will be out of contract, and we will need 2RBs a striker and a midfielder. That might amount to more than £100m...

We could always do a Chelsea on it and sign him on a 8 year deal and spread the payments over the 8 years .

i agree, who knows Lokonga might be decent and cheaper

But he's only a six month loan. We do need Gallagher . The chemistry is right. Would love to see him sign on a permanent in the summer

I really don't think Gallagher would want to come to us full time. He has got to be thinking about trophies and European football, especially after being in England squad for WC.
