Hamer from Coventry would’ve been ideal. £15M transfer fee and wages would’ve been on a par with Jimmy or Luka. Probably as good a prospect as Gallagher and for less than a third of the price!

Terrific box to box player, mopping up everything in front of the defence and pinging 40 yard balls with ease. Also a wand of a right foot that scores regularly from outside the box.

Sheff Utd. have picked up an absolute bargain here, thankfully he can’t play for them tomorrow.

IF, he was registered before midday y/day(Fri), then yes, he can. I see the bbc have only just mentioned that he has signed, so, hopefully you are right & yes, he does have a brilliant right-foot.

Eze will be playing on the left quite a bit (if he doesn't sign for Spuds).

Utter Hogwash, The King stays at Palace in the middle

Yes, agree 100%. Excellent player and it’s unreal that we allowed Sheffield Utd to pick him up for so little. In fact, the two Coventry players Gyokeres and Hamer would have filled the attacking gaps in our team quite nicely leaving any money we got from Mateta to be used to pick up another winger.

I believe Gyokeres wanted European football hence his move to Portugal. As for Hamer, presumably Dougie and his team thought otherwise or the transfer funds were earmarked for other needs.

With Caicedo and Lavia both going to Chelsea and Ward-Prowse going to Wet Spam, surely we have a great chance now to sign Gallagher? Especially as Chelski have about 300 midfielders now...

PP, why should we sign CG? IMO, he was great for approx the 1st half of the season he was with us & then basically crap for the rest. He has not been too great for Chelsea(albeit playing in wrong position for him). IF, he were to come back to us, where would he play? Who do we leave out?

They won’t give him away…..we can’t afford £35 to £40 million.

You don't give up do you Passion, having started the Gallagher thread in the first place?

The question has been asked several times and I don't seem to have seen your answer, so whose place is Gallagher going to take if he comes?
-Eze's?
-Doucoure's?
-Lerma's?
Personally, I wouldn't want him replacing any of them. Lerma and Doucoure look like they'll make a formidable double pivot allowing Eze to play further up the pitch as a free spirit. And I wouldn't want to move Eze wide out left to accommodate Gallagher.

Can't disagree with that and we have Hughes and possibly Ahamada as well.
As good as Conor was for a lot of his stay he doesn't seem to have attracted much interest from other clubs. Apart from WHam and they're keen on anyone who could recognise a football let alone kick one.

Sometimes players fit certain clubs and not others. Just looked like Gallagher fitted well for us - good all round but biggest quality workrate. He just may not fit in at Chelsea but they haven't let him go so obviously recognise something.
However, it's not our main concern as we're ok in central midfield. Probably above average in the league. It's obviously other positions that drag us down. I think wide players currently our biggest issue. Followed by lack of full backs and striker.
