Of course there were reasons for some vulnerable individuals, but not for others. They just gave excuses.

Initially NHS were mandated to accept it but ultimately that was relaxed on pragmatic grounds as the restrictions eased.

There is still an expectation that they all protect themselves and those that don’t are not kindly regarded. They have to be removed from roles that involve close contact with the vulnerable which is an additional burden on management. So free to choose?

If they are removed from front line contact and still don't get vaccinated does that indicate that they don't see the value or are they just selfish?

That depends entirely on your own opinion on this subject.

Mine being that they are misinformed, irresponsible and ought to know better given who they are and what they have been taught.

It’s typical Mail spin and typical of you to jump on it as though it proves anything, one way or the other.

What was factually said was that due to the mixture of measures taken trying to attribute the impact of any component isn’t possible. That there isn’t, in her opinion, any proof doesn’t mean they didn’t work or that she thought they ought not have been worn. Only that there is no proof.

There are a lot of opinions about this. Her’s is but one.

Twitter post from Karol Sikora

A British physician specialising in oncology, who has been described as a leading world authority on cancer and is an Ex-director of the WHO Cancer Programme.

He is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Buckingham, and a partner in and dean of Buckingham's medical school.

'Brutal and disproportionate lockdowns were the biggest policy mistake in my lifetime, so far.

We should have properly protected the elderly/vulnerable, and allowed the rest of society to function as normally as possible.

Yes, it would have been challenging. But a blanket lockdown policy on tens of millions who were at almost zero risk from the virus was utterly disastrous.

The vast, vast majority of children were in zero danger. Yet their wellbeing and development was sacrificed without a second thought.

We should have encouraged people to get fit and healthy, so they were better equipped to deal with COVID when they inevitably caught it.

There should have been an honest conversation about risk levels - this was not an indiscriminate killer, there were clear and obvious risk groups.

Instead, using our money, the Government pumped fear into the entire population with no thought of the consequences. A non-COVID health crisis has killed thousands already and will continue, with a far younger average age of death than those who sadly died from COVID. In addition to millions suffering in pain due to lockdown-induced delays...

Shutting down the economy, causing vast incalculable damage that we are still feeling today. In fact, my grandchildren will be paying off our lockdown debts for many years to come.

Hundreds of billions gone - think how just a fraction of that could have been spent on a real protective ring around those who actually needed it.

Sweden showed us that there was a better way, yet our inquiry entirely ignores it. Quite purposefully, I suspect.

I have no faith in this circus to come to a balanced assessment of our pandemic response, and neither should you.'

A 'short' from Andrew Marr on the covid chaos.

[Link]

All I did during covid was avoid everything and keep to myself, it has certainly worked for me.

No masks, jabs, doctors, nurses, medical advice (I hid from the jabs).

They came for me with needles drawn, but I scarpered.

As always when someone’s views are referenced first know who they are.

Instead of just the copied and pasted favourable to your own prejudices selected from his wiki page why not read everything that is said about Karol Sikora:-

[Link]

He isn’t a virologist. He is a cancer specialist. A well qualified and well regarded one who is passionate about his work. He wants the NHS replaced by private health insurance.

He has opposed the idea of lockdowns from the start. Nothing new is being revealed. He is stating the typical views of those who have these beliefs. None of whom actually had to take the decisions.

I thought you were quoting what Marr was saying so was a little relieved when I realised it wasn’t. Still a surprise though.

Did you isolate completely? No contact of any kind with anyone else?

I can see how that might work, though with an airborne virus nothing is certain.

Conversely, I did mostly the same as you but had the first two jabs. I’m still here fit and well. What’s the difference and big issue? I just don’t get how people have been so mentally bent out of shape over masks, lockdowns and jabs. It’s a bit mental really if you ask me.
We need to break free from the weight of conspiracy theory. It is what is f***ing the world up as we know it. Anyone with internet access is an alternative reality expert. And it’s just plain wrong that we aren’t shutting them down as a society.

Not that mental for self employed people who lost customers and work during lockdown. Or children whose education suffered or those who missed out on medical diagnoses Or are suffering due to the resultant treatment backlog. Or are suffering the mental health issues which lockdown caused.
