I'm also inclined to agree with this point of view Nick. On the whole he has done a great job at the Palace and I hope he gives PV the opportunity to persevere during this period of learning so we continue to grow and become consistently successful.

I completely agree P.O.G apropos PV however I am beginning to worry it falls into the bracket of wishful thinking.

Whilst we may well have and still could see the likes of a Dyche or Allardyce/Hodgson reincarnate in the dugout for footballing reasons, I'd see it as a return to type than anything of promise.

I have started to air concerns over PV however I could wish for nothing more than him to stay and see both man and club progress. It's not happened yet this season and I feel time will tell.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I don't see Vieira staying past this season unless promised massive investment (that is actually delivered). Without it, there aren't any tools for the job in this squad and relegation is written on the horizon in capital letters with an exclamation mark.

Many on here have questioned Vieira's persistence in playing Schlupp in central midfield.
Well tonight Guardiola has played Bernardo Silva at left back v Arsenal and he's been like a fish out of water.
There must be something unconventional in the City coaching manuals!
Mind you, they have not done too bad too bad in recent years in fairness.

Pep can have Schlupp in a swap deal for Silva if he likes. Schlupp can play anywhere - probably shouldn't, but he does. Haven't seen him in goal though I don't think.

Don't give him ideas.

Who do you think would have him, he was forth choice for our job, unemployed, that would be 3 clubs he has failed, he is total rubbish, he couldn't manage a team if you give him 20 new players, the worst manager since Holloway, and i include De Boer.

My view on Patrick Vieira, like most of us, has changed drastically since the World Cup break. Any manager who thinks playing Schlupp and Ayew, keeping both of our strikers on the bench, not to mention two goalkeepers (what’s that all about?) and never giving any of the youngsters a chance in my opinion has lost the plot. It’s hard to see where the next win is coming from and Parish and co. could have a big decision to make in the very near future.

Many of us would argue we produced some of our best football in decades last season. Since the WC it's gone a bit flat. Hardly the epic failure you keep promoting. The fact is we are comfortably midtable with one of the smallest outlays this season and this is a results business. I do think we looked a bit lost against Brighton, but in other games we've looked organised just lacking in creativity. Hopefully the new signings plus the return of Wilf, Andersen and McArthur can give us a boost in that department.

I don't want to see Vieira out, but he has made a number of questionable tactical choices as you mention. As our league position stays around the same then I can't see the board getting rid of him. As I mentioned in another post, last season we had the blueprint for a functional side that was competitive. This was based on an industrious midfield, as indeed was the old combination of Thomas and Gray in years past. We have lost that and I see nothing but lack of effort by those that Vieira selects. This is solely down to him and I would expect him to do something about it.

Lets wait and see, i am convinced we will be relegated, if PV remains Manager, and if it happens, i really hope it dosent, but if it does, it will be down to him, not lack of investment, 62m a season is enough.

With reference to your quote - £62 Million a season is enough.

Surely (to a large extent) that depends upon the starting point -
At the close of the previous season (considering that PV arrived in the summer) we had the oldest squad in the PL with a large number of players out of contract/ requiring new deals - in that context £62 Million a season is pretty just a bit more meaningful than walking around money / pocket change.
