'You lot must be mad wanting PV out. Sure its been a tough run of games this year but how many games have we been hammered (none) look at the last time we played a team below us Bournemouth away'

You don't lose a game by just getting hammered !!
It may have escaped your attention but under our current manager we don't score GOALS so teams tend to need just one to beat us ! (please see last night's game for clues !!)

Seems to be two arguments for keeping Vieira in: the board are more to blame and we have ‘winnable’ fixtures coming up.

On the first point I totally agree however changing the manager when things are this awful is a lot easier than changing the board. It is football at the end of the day and we are in a relegation fight. Board backing or not we need to be winning, or at least show some evidence of being capable of winning football games, and for months now we have not.

On the second I am struggling to relax with the thought that the games we have played are a complete anomaly and all of a sudden we’ll start beating everybody else therefore come the end of season everything will be fine. You can’t just write of x proportion of games and shrink our season down to the playing of the bottom 8. It’s the PL every game has its own challenges.

PV does not seem to have any solutions to the problems we are seeing. We’re not even laying a glove on teams. He isn’t showing any signs of fight or aggression whatsoever and therefore the team are not either. We’re not getting near the opposition goal, constantly rotating players, bizarre starting XIs and most importantly losing games of football. Not a ‘wartime’ manager. If we’d of lost, I don’t know, 1-4 yesterday but gave it a real go and just succumbed to city’s trillionaire bought quality I’d of seen that more positively. To bring a manager in to revolutionise the Royball existence only to play an inferior version of it seems insane.

It’s a grim grim time to be a palace fan. There’s literally nothing to cheer about. I don’t see the point in saying ‘tough run’ and ‘we need to/ should have spent £500mil on players’. True or not I want to go each weekend with some belief and for us to stay in the PL, I’m not and I can’t see where the argument for PV being the man is coming from? It almost seems dogmatic and delusional to keep holding a candle to a manager who is breaking records with our terrible performances. The players also look to have lost all belief too and that for me is most damning as our fate lies in their hands.

Agree with others that this is a great post. The point in bold is as big a fallacy as the the silver bullet that all we needed was a midfield partner for Doucoure IMO

Personally, had very high hopes of Vieira - mainly stemming from last season. This season is a huge contrast and shows Vieira is not really what we need. I've lost any faith in him turning things around - but, obviously, I hope he does. Even if he did, however, would prefer a different manager next season. Our fannying about on the ball and conceding schoolboy goals has left me basically angry. Add that to clueless up front and no midfield creativity what are you left with? Not much. As for effort and application - we can all see that. Look at how hard Bournemouth and Everton are working - then look at us.
I can't see us staying up unless something changes. If I could bring myself to bet on it I would. But I can't.

And a striker or at worst giving Edouard a run of games to see what he is properly capable of rather not starting him at all or putting him on here and there as a sub.
Remember that in the season where Benteke scored regularly under Pardew he was given a proper run of games, then he got injuries, lost confidence when he became a bit-part player and got slaughtered by the crowd etc.
It really isn't rocket science, but seemingly for PV it is !!

Edouard's had lessons in tossing it off from Benteke IMO.

We needed a better striking option in the last window and a full back who would bring us an attacking dimension.

I agree he was supposed to take us to the next level.

And he has - downwards.

He was also expected to write history.

He has - 300 minutes without a shot on goal is historic.

But I do not necessarily agree that he must go.

I mean, someone has to manage us in the Championship next year.

And keep us from another relegation!

Our tactical approach last season, in particular in the first half of the season, was based around Gallagher pressing from the front and also his timing of runs into the penalty area which made him like an auxiliary striker on occasions.
He was the key component stretching the play and enabling our forwards to get the ball in advanced positions and often in space.
Eze, Schlupp , Olise and Ayew are not capable of performing the same function and we have neither compensated for Gallagher’s loss nor found an effective alternative system.
If we still had a Gallagher style player we would play more on the front foot and would be likely to see better contributions from the likes of Edouard and Zaha.
We can all see our lack of energy and exuberance in the final third .
Ahamada shows signs of a positive approach with a look to continually move forward in attacking midfield , but his inexperience could make it a tall order to expect him to carry the burden of being the catalyst for change.

Players not pressing need their asses kicked until they do press. Continue to not press and put in the reserves and sell. These lot need a boot up the backside. Lazy and unmotivated. It's unacceptable - the boss has to go now and the players need to be told that they will likely be taking a fifty per cent pay cut in the championship. Or be sold to whoever in Turkey might want them. There's no sugar coating our lack of effort and apathy anymore.

Do you not feel that with about 10 players out of contract last year and about he same this year that investment in our squad or bringing through the youngsters if we dont have the money for new players is the key?

To loose close to 20 players out of contract over 18 Months is a huge void? I think we will stay up this year with a few scary moments, its next year I worry about, Wilf will be a huge loss

If we'd kicked on at all - without being held to ransom with massive contracts for idiots like Benteke - then Wilf would be staying. Look at the fees and wages we've paid for jokers. We may as well have just booked Jo Brandt.
New stand? Just a myth or legend at this stage.
20 new players? Sure these 17 year old Scots from St Mirren reserves will do. And there's some Irish lads somewhere in Europe getting fifty quid a week and a digital programme.

If, as seems probable, we lose to Brighton and Arsenal, that will be five points from a possible thirty six. Not to sack the manager, in that case, would be a remarkable, and unusual, and probably fatal, expression of faith.
