Some while ago, I was on the train to the game, coming from Caterham, a few rows behind me I could hear some kid chatting to her dad that she could see the Eiffel tower, she had seen pics of it at school & knew what it looked like, she was looking at the communication tower on the top of the hill, which to be fair is a similar shape.

As a child growing up in Elmers End, I was always amazed how close France was, I could see the Eiffel Tower so clearly. Oh to be 6 years old. I also thought there was no difference in the 2 popular teams at my primary school. The reds of Liverpool (who were in the glory days of Dalglish, Souness and Hansen or the mighty Palace who’s ground was so close I could walk there… so began the life long torment of being a Palace Fan.

Very poor when you see some of the clubs above us. I think we are hoping to move up to around 14.

Being 15 on the list will be quite impressive upgrade.

As a London club, albeit suburban, we could hope to have a stadium to rival the bigger clubs, but that would take huge investment and a lot of council arm twisting.
I'll be happy with a new main stand and a bigger Whitehorse for now.

Crystal Palace have taken a major step forward in the redevelopment of their Selhurst Park stadium after signing an agreement to fund community improvements.

The deal, referred to in planning regulations as a Section 106, was the most significant remaining obstacle to beginning construction of a new 13,500-capacity Main Stand. Although it had been agreed for some time, Palace had not signed it — something that was necessary for any work on the stadium to commence.

Friday marks six years since the Premier League club were first granted planning permission in principle to rebuild that stand and make other improvements to their home ground. But there have been stumbling blocks along the way, with a revised planning application being approved in October last year by Croydon Council.

Now they are free to begin work, with the expectation being that it will happen over this summer. Palace say they remain on track with that timeframe, which has been previously stated by their chairman, Steve Parish.

What are the Community improvements? Are the bankrupt council taking the p? Maybe the club should have gone all out to find an alternative site and tell Croydon Council to do one

Fulham overtake us next season when the Riverside Stand fully opens raising the capacity to 30,000.

Community improvements: Weren't there some considerations as regards local transport links that Croydon council wanted us to pay for ?

We will have a novel stadium to satisfy all tastes. The new glitzy main stand will be a corporate delight for tight fitting suits a la Parish who can congregate there thinking they are somebody.
Then there will be the shortened White Horse which will probably lose its corporate boxes and go 2 tier eventually.
The Homesdale will remain as it is with the Ultras on the Lower level
The Cattle Shed Arthur will hopefully lose its Gantry so the back rows will be able to see more of the pitch and the game. But Im sure it will retain its old fashioned charm of flooding urinals, awful food and diluted beer that takes an age to order. With any luck it will retain its lower price structure and remain one of the few places to watch live Premier at affordable prices albeit in a shed.
Bring it on.

Some refreshing positivity for a change.
I think it's going to be great for the club.

My ambition is to see the Whitehorse restored to some sort of respectable state. The initial downsizing sucks and I still need closure from the first sight of the 'redesigned' version in 1981.
It still annoys me even now.
