I said in another thread that Roy would be daft to take on another full season, and I've seen nothing to change my mind. With Roy we'll kick the can further down the road, finish in our niche spot around 12th place, and then we can discuss the next season, making the same discussion points over again. A bit like Groundhog Day funny enough. As things stand, this is probably as good as it gets.

Think you are right. Ultimately it will all depend on whether we can strengthen the squad (cannily) with new recruits.

Yet another picture of the opposition scoring while Ward does nothing. Does he ever win a header?
Business as usual, really. Players like Ward and Ayew are just not good enough against top half opposition. So: six points lost to Spurs this season, five goals without reply. Better than the home match, though.
I can understand that the manager wants to field his strongest side for the remaining games and indeed he owes it to other sides at the bottom to contest every match. A pity not to blood a couple of Academy players? What is completely pointless is to have Lokonga on the bench. Unless we intend to bid for him in the next window?

If so then frankly that is really poor.

Yup but look at it from another angle. Key player rips ACL or breaks leg. A risk you'll take if survival depends on it... but otherwise...

Fully fit squad enjoys full recuperation over the closed season and plays full pre season as a unit. It means the end of this season is a damp squib and fans will feel cheated. But that is a small price against a strong start from August, early points in the bag and a winning momentum.

Also we want Doucoure and Guehi for the final games. They're on 8 and 9 yellows respectively. And we will have targeted the last 2 home games for points.

Spurs didn't leave much space and we couldn't break them down. The same as against Everton and Wolves. Eze again struggled against better opponents. Olise was shut out for much of the game. I thought Wilf looked our only real threat. After some strong performances Ayew cut a frustrated man. Yes the ref was poor and yes Spurs used the dark arts to get over the line but I struggle to think of a clear chance we created all game.

It's hard to judge too much on this game as nothing was riding on it, but this was our first game against a big team since Roy came in and we looked no better than we did under PV. I think Roy lifted the squad, but I think we have to be realistic that whomever is in charge next season we are going to have plenty of games like this unless we invest in improving the squad.

Did you actually watch the game, it was a 50/50 match, dont you remember the Pathetic performance Vieiras 11 put on against spurs, if you cant see the difference, try watching another sport

We are three weeks away from ten years in the Prem. In that time Tottenham have spent ten times what we have on players, one billion pounds on a new stadium, gone through countless celebrity managers, yet have won the same number of trophies as we have, are about to lose by far their best player, and today were reduced to the most negative tactics to stop us getting a deserved point. Their fans have high expectations and as a result are consistently let down by a chairmen who can’t get them over the line. Liverpool Man City Manure Chelsea and now Arsenal and Newcastle are ahead of them. I know who I’d rather support. COYP!!!

We lacked intensity, desire and any luck. We got a ref who wound us up. Spurs were no better but have Kane. It was by far the worst performance since Roy returned. Any other of those performances would have seen us cruising.

Hopefully they will turn up next week!

I happened to go today, Spurs were up for it, after losing 4 games, we thought it was a friendly. Spurs are generally poor only have 2 class players Kane and Romero, who make the difference.
Zaha just wasnt interested, only his usual complaining, time for us to let go, definitely not worth £200k a week.

Well said. Unfortunately I have to own up. This is the 5th away game I have been to this season and we haven’t scored in any. It was a poor game today by two mid table sides. Spurs are a million miles away from being a top side and once they lose Kane they will be in the same bracket as us. In fact today there was very little to chose between the teams.

Football that was not and spurs pathetic behaviour led to our players showing their frustration which allowed the disgusting ridiculous ref to get his cards out when he should've sorted Spurs out for their persistent stupid fouls in the first half!

Totally agree. Ruined my day out but Mr England has previous. Very disappointed with Spurs, playacting, time wasting. Does Harry Kane ever get booked?
Having said that, thought we didn’t show nearly enough , goal in injury time put paid to game plan.
Players were getting increasingly frustrated.

Ward marking Kane?…. perhaps the height difference had something to do with it!! Aside to this he had a good solid game. Passing has improved also.
Biggest culprit for the goal (again) was Mitchell allowing Porro acres of space behind him. I have raised this before but is this intentional coaching in order to play narrow denying space in the middle? This happens a lot.
Ayew didn’t have his best game but neither did Eze and Olise.

No not really.

Ball was crossed in without much pace, Ward moved towards it and jumped underneath, Kane was a couple paces behind him to nod in. Completely misjudged it. He actually took a couple of steps forward and was not even near Kane let alone contesting with him. Very poor at PL standard.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
