Does anyone else think that maybe other clubs are casting a doubting eye over Wilf now? The injuries are adding up. Also, if he is now injury prone, should we be offering him £200k a week on a 4 year contract as reported

Saying this a while now. Age and injuries and a few injuries have been when no player has been around him. I doubt any big club will be after him.

No is the short answer. I agree, the money can be better spent on new recruits and giving Eze a pay rise. Edited by beak (14 May 2023 6.53pm)

Wilf might well be becoming more injury prone, but just half a season of Wilf is worth the money. Even if he comes off the bench for half an hour, he could be devastating. The good news is that we are now less reliant on him than we were, but that will only remain the case if we keep hold of our other talent.

As i have said before, withdraw all offered contracts, (if there are any) and concentrate on making sure Eze, Olise, Andersen, Doucoure and Guehi, Wilf is probably our best ever player, but thank him and wave goodbye, and use the 400/500k a week we will get wisely.
Tell me, is something eluding you, sunshine? |

I’d add Johnstone to to that, by my estimations we’re just over half way to a Europe challenging first eleven: GK: Johnstone RB: *New* CM: Doucoure RW: Olise I’m not expecting 5 first team signings in the summer but presuming we keep everyone it would be nice to see some progression here.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

The question you have to ask yourself punk, is, would you buy him to play in the football club you own? What, you mean this player who used to be class when he was in his prime and before he started to pick up too many injuries. Yep, that's right. Frankly, no. Too much of a liability now especially on those wages.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

No is the short answer. 100% agree. Unfortunately, this is now the 3rd time in a few months he has limped off the pitch. He has been playing since the age of 17 - his body is now saying NO. It is not only his age, injuries and wages that will be an issue. I do think Eze's new found freedom is partly as Wilf has barely played. Without Wilf Eze has been allowed to express himself. With Wilf in the team PV in particular wanted Eze to do more defensive work. Roy has focused on his attacking game.
