Look, we all know how this will pan out.

Names will be linked all summer as Parish tries to make up his mind from those who might be interested in working within his boundaries. Then with two days before the season starts he'll appoint Roy for another season...

Spot on. Stadium supposedly starting to be built next year. Absolute zero chance of them risking it with a new manager next season. Roy and Ray nailed on

I do not envisage either Messrs Gerrard or Lampard in the 'Home' technical area at Selhurst Park next season.

Me neither, I think their ego’s wouldn’t go down well with Parish even if they did get as far as an interview

Viewed objectively I think they're both in the 'promising young English manager' category with limited and unsuccessful PL experience. I don't think we should take a risk with either. I think Parish will have learned and we'll get either Ron Roy and Paddy for another season, Potter or Roger's, someone with a great deal of PL experience

The problem with keeping Roy for next season is, we will be in the same position of finding a manager, this time next year. Surely it is just delaying the inevitable?
ATM there are some good managers who could be available, Potter, Fonseca, Galtier. Would there be next year?

Even if we appointed one of that list, we're still 50/50 as to needing to do this again this time next year.

i think a one year deal for Roy is an absolute no brainer.

The players love him and love playing for him. He is getting the best out of Eze and Olise who are our future.

With Roy as back up Parish can't be f*cked about - so we're in a nice position. Can see Potter going to Leicester - Steve Cooper has a funny relationship with his owners, backed and undermined at the same time - Parish rated him before he proved himself at prem level, and I think a move to Selhurst wouldn't be a step down. The foreign managers named seem generally unrealistic - much more likely to get Rutter than Slot but it's all hearsay. I wonder if they'll revisit Lucien Favre - great track record, you never know if it will translate to the prem but he came across as having that quiet intelligence that the likes of Sven Goran Erikson have.

Much as I love uncle Roy, I don’t agree with that, I think a long run of more winnable games against weaker opposition got the best out of Eze and Olise. I’ll stand Corrected if they do it consistently when the going gets tough again next season

I think Brighton played some super football under Potter. What they lacked at the time was someone to stick the ball in the net. I think our much maligned strikers would score significantly more if we generated the number of chances his team did over the period he was in charge.
Of the managers that are currently available I think Potter is the best suited to our club.
Nothing against Roy and his team, they are only a stop gap and at the end of next season the quality of managers available may not be the same.
