I said the same above - unbelievably bad.

He's currently a bit-part player at Motherwell, which sounds about right.

Sorry, didn't notice. Did anyone say Zeki Fryers?

You just did.

However, I think the prize has to go on those whose cost was all out of proportion to what they brought. Akinbiyi and Brolin are the 2 that spring to mind.

The former, like Adama Traore, was built like a rugby league player and, like Traore, ran straight through opponents - when playing for his previous clubs. But not for us. Could not be ars*d.

Brolin was world class. But he declined seriously at Leeds and everyone knew it. Save, it would appear, our beloved club. Cost a fortune and then waddled around the center circle resembling the Pillsbury Dough Boy. Meanwhile, Leeds got Nigel Martyn from us. I think they are still laughing.

I remember Brolin and Akinbiyi. Brolin ate all the pies. Akinbiyi is a comedy figure these days, maybe akin to Rudi Hedman. His performances were certainly a joke but I failed to find it funny at the time.

Have you forgotten Mick Hill, the non-terroriser of third division defences?

Pleased to see the dire early to mid-80's features highly in Monkey's line-up, but I hope you don't mean Joachim Anderson, who IMHO is absolute quality. Other terrible strikers of that era included Aylott, Jones and Edwards, if memory serves me right.
Also remember around then going to a match where someone called Leahy (I think) was announced in the line-up as a striker, to audible groans from the Palace faithful. Never heard of him before or since, but he certainly lived down to expectations.
