Living near Gillingham I’ve never forgiven him for missing that penalty at their ground on Boxing Day about 20 years ago. I know we got stuffed 4-1 and anyone can miss a penalty, but we were still in the game then and it was the way he arrogantly pulled rank and made it clear he was taking it after only being on the pitch a few minutes. At that time losing to Gillingham was not good

He went incredibly bad, and had a rubbish attitude. Drinking and eating kebabs. However, in all fairness to him, rubbish overall but certainly not our worst ever.
I can't have been the only one wondering if some of our players over the years had ever actually played before.
One that sticks in my mind is Gareth Taylor. I believe he's manager of Man City women now. I don't think he played enough to be worst ever though. He makes anyone look prolific - he was a centre back converted to striker I believe. That may have worked in Division 3 but certainly didn't in the top flight. What did he score 1 in 25 something like that? Plus, he was a couple of mil which was decent money at the time.
I know most will have forgotten (repressed the memory) him.

I haven't !

Bristol Rovers played Taylor alongside Marcus Stewart who went on to be a prolific scorer...naturally we signed the wrong one...

Unbelievable that was, Marcus Stewart was a bit of a goal machine and became quite sort after, so what do we do? Buy the donkey he played upfront with. It was a strange one, because back then we had a decent record of picking bargains from the lower leagues, the early 90’s team was full of them

Can’t remember the guys surname, Neil someone we paid about £2m to wolves. He was absolutely shocking, think he played about a dozen games, then we gave him back to wolves at a huge discount. He really was BAD.

Indeed, a Bromley boy, he played for my now local team Sittingbourne in his early days, but you’re right, pretty awful.
