Disagree. We need excellence in all positions, and Geuhi would be a huge loss, and would need replacing with someone just as good

We paid £12 million for Richards a year ago so maybe we already have our replacement for Guehi. He played left centre back go the USA yesterday against Canada and scored as did Balogun the other yank we are apparently interested in. Doesn’t quite have Guehi’s physique or presence in defence but he’s a tall lad and good on the ball. He needs game time. If we have to sell someone over the summer I’d prefer a big fee for Guehi to losing Eze or Olise.

If we have made a bid of that magnitude for a defender then it can only mean we are going to replace either Andersen or Guehi. The reason I say that, is that we only ever spend that sort of money on a starting 11 player as opposed to a squad filler.

I for one would be happy if we did buy Schuurs as we have looked weak aerially for some time and he is supposed to be commanding in that area. If such a deal also releases another £20m-£30m to spend on a striker then I’m all for it. Get £12m in for Mateta and use that for a right back.

A summer window of Lerma, Schuurs, Gyokeres and say Boey would be pretty good if Wilf stays as well.
