Che is a good striker I like him and he has a quite revolutionary style of play.

I have the t-shirt of course which attracts many complimentary remarks.

I would have preferred it if we were looking at Alcaraz from Southampton instead of Adams.

No one seems to be looking at Broja at Chelsea at the moment. It depends on how is recovery from injury is going.

The other striker who I neverthought was given a decent chance at Leicester was Patson Daka.

Not sure how much any of these would cost though.

Why do they need to come from the PL or Championship?

It’s pretty obvious you can’t find a striker in the PL for cheap money but conversely, just because Adams played in the PL doesn’t mean he is a decent player as our own two strikers have so adequately proven.

I would stay well clear of Adams and look to the European or South American leagues, perhaps even Japan/Korea. It just needs Dougie to get his ass out of Scotland and Ireland and casting his eye a bit further afield.

Because if you can score in the Premier or the Championship you have a far chance he can do ok, in my opinion the championship is probably with the Bundesliga, certainly better overall than La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Scotland, if you buy from any of them leagues you a gambling

Adams' record in both leagues is underwhelming (34 in 116 for Birmingham and 25 in 123 for Southampton). His stats are no better than Edouard's. As Mars said one problem with both Edouard and Mateta is that neither has had a decent run in the team (last season Mateta had just 8 starts but 23 sub appearances. Edouard fared better with 21 starts and 15 sub appearances - both include cup games). The other problem with Edouard, of course, is he's lazy and it will be interesting to see whether Hodgson can get him to work harder in the coming season. As for Mateta, it seems to me that Hodgson isn't a fan and it will be no surprise if he's sold this window (If anyone will buy him that is). If Zaha does re-sign then I would expect him to be playing centrally more often unless Edouard ups his game (which I think he is capable of).

As for the 12/15m, we can spend it better elsewhere (assuming we've got it to spend)

Where?

On a left winger (even if Zaha re-signs) or a Left back.

That wont help the fact we have Edouard, who is awful, worse than Benteke, and Mateta who though better than Edouard has a first touch like a blacksmith. who is the right footed left winger you would like for 12/15m?

I know there’s always someone like Armstrong who scored loads for Blackburn but failed at saints and we dodged a bullet, but we keep saying it’s still got to be worth a chance plucking a goal scorer out of the championship, I know he’s gone to Spain now, but someone like Brereton Diaz at Blackburn.

Adams won't score many goals but could be a very good signing anyway.

The key criteria for a new forward is whether they help get the best out of Olise, Eze and Zaha if, as appears increasingly possible, the latter stays. To do that, we needs a hard working, mobile, slightly selfless forward to work the opposition centre backs, hold the ball up before bringing the creative three into play, and yet run behind the opposition to give the big three a pass to play.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Eze and Olise flourished when Ayew played up front, as he has far more of the necessary attributes than Edouard or Mateta. Adams would perhaps bring the same industry and sacrifice as Ayew but also bring greater athleticism, a few more goals and a bit less 'winning free kicks'.

Plus, it's not like it's a choice between Adams and Harry f***ing Kane is it?!

Agree with pretty everything in this post as you say it's not like we have much of a choice.

Adams was joint 58th scorer in the 22 premier league. But look at what was in front of him, and how many of those were actually strikers of the accepted sense . If you stick to those known as strikers only the most expensive score regularly . Here’s a link.

There is an argument for keep dipping our hand in the general European pot for a maybe, if you exclude the fact that we have done that with Sorloth, and Mateta, it hasn’t actually been that successful.. One things for certain really prolific strikers don’t come along in great numbers.
