Please can you at least attempt to exercise balance and fairness in your coverage of opposition to BLM and to footballers taking the knee? Contrary to what appears your default position, my objections to both do not stem from racism, or from a lack of education or compassion. For similar reasons I oppose the (evidently political) position of an organisation like BLM, whose own website called for the police to be defunded, and who advocate positive discrimination. In addition, I am concerned that commercial organisations can overpromote their support of BLM, successfully diverting attention away from their complicity in so many other significant issues. Mostly though, and from the outset, I was infuriated by the support offered to BLM despite their failure to show evidence of structural racism in our society. You have led from the front with fact-checks around covid, the vaccine, and your obsession with Trump, yet you apply no such factual, objective scrutiny to BLM. You suspend any comment facility on the subject, denying license fee payers the chance of respectful debate. I don't need you to agree with my position on this issue, but you do have a responsibility to at least acknowledge the existence of reasoned opposition to BLM and to kneeling. Not doing so is not only unfair on me and others who you are misrepresenting, it is a serious failure on your part to educate and inform. It denies those who support BLM access to a view they ought to consider, misleading them into feeling they are in the presence of racism or ignorance. I wish I'd kept the response. It was a combination of autotext ('We thank you for taking the time to contact us') the avoidance of proper engagement, dismissive power tripping ('We are not biased, you are wrong' - and that's almost a literal quote) all wrapped up in noticeably low standards (poor grammar, illogical sentences, no discernable structure of thought). To be honest, the response was so infuriating and pointless that I deleted it, as I didn't want to get wound up every time I saw it lingering in my inbox. It was evident that they do as they please no matter what. I complained to the BBC about a misleading graph after the Boris election which claimed the majority of voters were in favour of Remain. Simply untrue and the way they gerrymandered the graph Stalin would have approved. My complaint was rejected with the same BS as you. About 1 month later the BBC was hauled over the coals for that graph and they had to admit it was wrong. I and others who complained though never received a retraction, apology or a simple acknowledgment that our complaint was upheld.

That's what happens when the complaints dept isn't functioning independently of the organisation. The state of the BBC is a tragedy for everyone. I can accept (or at least understand) that private, commercial media outlets inevitably end up as echo chambers, or low standard bearers as they exist to target a certain profile of customer as much, or more, as to actually deliver information. It's very far from perfect (sometimes it's awful) but it's perhaps inevitable given the commercial model they rely on and which, in turn, ensures vital independence from the state. Thing is, the BBC aren't subject to those commercial pressures. They are one of the few media outlets to be publicly funded but not state controlled. They don't have to rely on appealing to one part of the political, social or economic spectrum to stay in business. In a world full of dumb, manipulative or ignorant echo chamber media, the BBC could be a lighthouse of higher standards and objectivity, simply because they are one of the few media organisations that can afford to be. They could challenge and difuse echo chamber thinking without fear of losing custom, but they don't. They just create their own.

Personally it suggests to me that it was an operation from within the security services. I hope that some work is done on this at some point and whatever the truth is that it's revealed.

I don't know any more than anyone else does but could it be that it was the context of the event, rather than the actual gesture, which resulted in the sacking? He obviously wasn't diving, and probably not using sign language to a deaf person. If he was deliberately being offensive then perhaps whatever gesture was used would have caused the same outcome. Why have the BBC reported this? Probably because of the Wayne Rooney connection.

Grifters and the indoctrinated and cultural go-alongs call white people racist all the time in the west. They ignore the fact that non whites risk their lives to live in the countries created by these supposedly terrible people. BLM saw people kneeling for blacks in the west amid actual racism against working class white people...for example the guy who flew a 'white lives matter' flag.....It's not forgotten. While the grifters BLM whined about slavery from centuries ago and demand money from people, they say nothing about the actual slavery that exists today....none of it being carried out by whites, but instead existing in Africa and the middle east. It's always been a lie. Anyway, all those people who supported the war in Libya, led by neo and social liberals Obama, Blair and others resulted in actual slavery being brought back there on far larger scales. They ignore the fact that non whites risk their lives to live in the countries created by these supposedly terrible people. Whites being the people's who actually fought and died fighting slavers.....Mostly non white. We succeeded and wiped slavery from Africa and everywhere in the British empire. The Arabs, who had the bigger and much longer lasting trade carried it long afterwards. Governments, starting from the fifties, were moral cowards and betrayed their native populations. Only the Europeans and the parasites among them allowed this self harming. If it was used by a black person then you have to fire them too and black klansmen becomes a reality
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
