Not on bench ce soir and only 8 subs (allowed 9)
Probably on way and fingers crossed for a good replacement!

If he's on his way, let it be after this game.
It smacks of being unprofessional not to field a full bench or have a striker on the bench (I don't see Gordon as a realistic option at this stage).
If Edouard gets injured presumably Ayew has to go up front and the system has to be changed.
If he's injured then there's not much that can be done about it.

If Eddy gets crocked then yes Ayew up top and put Jes on the right.

From the South London Press dated yesterday

Crystal Palace have turned down two approaches from RB Leipzig for striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The South London Press understands that the Eagles turned down Leipzig’s first offer to take Mateta on loan and have since rejected an €8million permanent bid from the Bundesliga side.

Fellow German outfits Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach are both keen on taking the 26-year-old on loan.

(I can only suppose there's a better offer than Leipzig's somewhere)

in the Prem,
either a) you perform miracles or b) you go off to ply your trade in another league.

the Benteke honeymoon period was an aberration.

Mateta ? i dunno. Possibly a play-maker , but not really a goal-scorer. what is your vote ?

But every year we have this, the manager starts a game with a threadbare bench as a means of protest and nothing happens.

It's crazy that it's been this way for so long as Palace that we're now accustomed to having only one or two recognised strikers. Most teams will have three, probably four named strikers in their ranks but for a long time now we've been playing entire seasons with as few as one recognised striker.

Turn the clock back a year and the same was being said about Benteke who was sold and not replaced like for like.
Tonight's team, with the absence of Zaha, Olise and Franca, carried very little attacking threat.
Given that Parish doesn't do spending, people on here crowing about a possible departure for Mateta should be very careful for what they wish for.

i would be happy to pay the exact same money for a 23 year old rising star from the Championship.....or one of the European leagues. I'd rather the devil we don't know.

Several fans became alcoholics whilst he was here.

Truth is, Benteke probably would've buried that headed chance Eduoard had. He took a lot of the blame for what was actually just poor chance creation. He'd thrive with Olise whipping balls in.

Anyway, this isn't about Benteke. But anyone thinking Mateta is in the same league is bonkers. In my opinion.

When he first arrived i thought he looked like a goal scorer. He had that 1 chance in a Brighton away game he converted and i was always impressed with his ability to get his chances on target for the most part. However, his link up play was never that great especially given his physicality and you always felt he needed another player a long side him which you are not always going to get in modern football.
