And where do you get this from ?

I first met Gareth when he was in the youth team at Palace. And last time was a few years ago where he lives in Harrogate. He's actually a very humble, down to earth guy and certainly no Big Time Charlie.

I wholeheartedly concur with these sentiments. Gareth is grace and humility personified.

You suggested a scenario of a board meeting where Parish suggested the appointment of Cooper with the other owners responding 'Who is he?'
It seems unlikely that they are not across permutations for a potential future appointment given their hefty financial exposure.
They have board meetings after all and have to sign off significant decisions.
To be as ignorant of possible appointments as you suggest points to a cavalier approach which seems highly improbable.

Whilst I guess that my comment would have been seen as tongue in cheek by most people who didn't have an axe to grind do you think that Harris & Blitzer are up to date with the runners and riders in the management stakes or as is far more likely they would agree to back Parish's suggestions

My perception is that Harris and Blitzer back Parish's recommendations and that Textor has an independent view.

I very much suspect that Messrs Harris & Blitzer are not au fait in terms of managers and defer to the knowledge of Steve Parish with regard to a new appointment.

It's difficult to assess for sure.
It has been suggested that the American owners wanted Pardew removed before Parish eventually came around to their way of thinking.
Parish himself has acknowledged that Pardew could have left before his eventual departure given the decline in results and performances.
Parish is day to day CEO and is obviously more 'hands on' than the other owners.
However, Parish himself has said that all owners have to sign off on key decisions.
It seems likely that hiring and firing managers would be amongst them, in particular when considering the financial implications.

With regard to Hodgson he has called for some perspetive around the rumours surrounding his future.
He said the bad results v Luton and Everton heaped pressure on the subsequent games against Liverpool, Manchester City, Brighton and Chelsea which were seen as more difficult games potentially leading to a lengthy winless run.
Having beaten Brentford the rumours then move on to another manager encountering difficult results Hodgson suggested.
Eddie Howe seems to be the current fall guy despite his overall good record.
That's the nature of the game.
Pep himself has said any manager is only 6 bad results from the sack.

I would like to see Hodgson go (if there is a suitable available
replacement) because I believe he is holding the players back and not allowing their full potential to be realised.
It doesn't mean I'm correct, and plenty on here will disagree with this opinion.

As I’ve posted before, when Roy was re-appointed did anyone not know what they were getting ? All the same old complaints about him being rolled out every week is getting as tedious as some of the football has been this season.

I’ve always supported Hodgson when manager at Palace but I didn’t want him to return this season. But he did and we are where we are. Some of the criticism levelled at him is valid and some of it, in my opinion, isn’t.

The wretched, winless run is over largely on the back of Eze and Olise making a rare start together. But of course in some people’s eyes it was only due to the fact that Brentford had a number of injuries. You know, the same as Palace have had most of the season.

Sure, it’s a results business. If Roy gets sacked on the back of continuing poor results then that’s all part of football. But I don’t advocate parting company with him at this point just as performances have improved, players have returned from injury and the transfer window is now open. Certainly not if it’s to make way for Cooper.

As for the spotlight moving onto other managers, Frank would seem to have the most to worry about, but I understand Brentford have no intention of parting company with him. As for Howe, the Newcastle ownership will surely look to eventually appoint an ‘ elite ‘ coach who in turn can attract elite players to their club. I think that scenario was always on the cards.

Thomas Frank has enough credit in the bank for guiding Brentford to promotion to the PL but also leading them to 13th and 9th positions in the division. This season of course they have had to play without Ivan Toney.

Frank succeeded Dean Smith with Brentford 7th in the Championship.Brentford lost 8 of their first 10 games under him but the club persevered with him during such a run.

I’m happy we got a win yesterday because it was badly needed, however we were playing a team which has far more first 11 players missing than us so we should not get carried away with the performance.

Totally agree. Two of their better players, Mee and Henry would have made life much more difficult for Mateta and Olise

I don’t see any evidence of people getting carried away with the performance against Brentford.

Just plenty of people like you that can only offer negatives.

To break that winless run I’d have taken an own goal in added time and a 1-0 win. Something to build on.

I would honestly be shocked if Harris and Blitzer could name three players in our squad. Maybe even one. They're absentee owners of many sports teams in the US, and show very little interest in any of them. Their new novelty is English football, and they always have one eye out to leave us and buy into a bigger club.

I think ownership is just an ego trip for them, or maybe they wring some cash out here and there. I'm not sure what their angle is, but I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

I don't trust Textor either. He at least shows some interest in football, which may be a positive or negative for us. He also seems like he enjoys collecting clubs all over the world to feed his ego.

Best case is Parish makes all the decisions, and the others just pony up cash when asked.
