To still be trying to claim some moral high ground on behalf of the Israeli’s is laughable.

You speak as if the desire to destroy and kill is on one side only, which is so demonstrably untrue it’s impossible to take seriously.

For those of you who have the time, I would recommend that you try and track down The Fifty Years War, which was shown late last night on BBC 4. It’s a series of half hour segments that details the history of the conflict from the British withdrawal from the region to the late 1990’s. The programmes were made in 1998 and are factual and intriguing, with interviews with many of the major people; it isn’t a documentary that preaches at you, it’s ‘old fashion journalism’.
What it taught me was how complicated the interplay between the region’s countries was (and presumably still is), but what stood out for me was how alliances change; one minute Jordan is invading Israel, the next they are asking them to help repel an invasion by Syria. Lebanon allowing the Israelis in to oust Arafat.
In the middle are the Palestinian people who are at first welcomed as refugees but then ousted when the become ‘too much trouble’. As Stirling has remarked elsewhere, this is why the Egyptians are keeping their border with Gaza closed and not allowing their Arab brothers refuge in their country.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Sounds interesting I'll try and find that if I can.

As to the commentary on the Palestinians, I have heard snippets here before. I say this from a standpoint of ignorance (which I am demonstrating) but I have heard snippets of similar commentary regarding regional attitudes toward them. It's often used to dismiss the notion of 'Arab brotherhood' which I am again too ignorant to comment upon but the gist I was left with is that feeling toward Palestinians, from others in the region, was very far from fraternal. Egypt particularly was mentioned but I think that was more due to geographical reasons.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Hamas would not have been power if the Israelis had not played the politics in its favour. Other, more moderate, groups would be in power.

That's mere speculation.

Hamas would exist whatever Israel did. They are part of the worldwide Islamic, fascist, terrorist network – very similar to ISIS.

What would Israel and Hamas negotiate about – the detail of how the state of Israel would be destroyed, the means of killing all Jews?

As it seems others have put you right during my time away from the keyboard there's little to add. I don't doubt that there would be radical elements among the Palestinians which would demand ongoing security but they wouldn't be in power.

Or possibly the don’t make insulting comments that suggest people twist the truth and care nothing for their country, and then claim they are “far beneath” them, thread?

You mock other people's opinions and then try to play the victim when your superiority is questioned.

Don't start a fight if you can't handle a punch on the nose.

The Palestinians voted them in knowing they were terrorists. How is that Israel’s fault ?

Fancy that.

I wonder who would be dumb enough to accept them.

Oh!

More importantly, who is racist and rejects them? Who is a Nazi and wants to deny those poor people a chance to build a new life away from those wretched murderous Zionists?

Get the picture?

There's a story of Palestinians being taken in by Norway in the 90s and around 60% done time in Norway out of roughly 300. So we definitely don't want them.

We saw this coming a mile off.

Both groups see Europe as something to exploit....Individuals may be great people and shouldn't be tarred with that brush but collectively we owe no favours to any country in the Middle East.

The US speaks out of two sides of the same mouth. Supplying Israel with the money, weapons and ammo it needs to carry out its war while talking the language of restraint.

We should stay out of their affairs, you only get blamed.

Indeed, their war is nothing to do with us. To invade without a coherent exit strategy seems to be the norm in 'modern' warfare. to commit genocide on a population and then displace the remaining people is a Land Grab the UN (and all countries) should condemn in the strongest language.
