I am reliably informed that 'Butty' is used in Wales to mean a friend, buddy etc etc.

In my lothario days I used to know a buxom lady from Merthyr who used to say "Lie bach and Prestatyn".

I do think that the discussion should return to the subject matter !

I have no really strong views, about who is right or wrong, but I have to say those who seem to support Palestinians seem to be a bunch of a,,,holes, as for hamas, a bunch of thugs, they do no favours for the people of Palestine, who like all peoples around the World have their share of good and bad, mostly good people who want to live decent lives, only to be screwed up by religious idiots, reminds of the Mark Twain quote, Religion started when the first conman met the first idiot

Just thought I should disassociate myself from this thread. I have not been locked up. I am a free man.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Talking of Mark Twain quotes, one is particularly pertinent and instructive to posting on this forum: Never attempt to argue with a fool, bystanders won't be able to tell the difference.

They don't - they usually say 'pronto' (ready), a left over from the days when operators connected you to the other party and used to show you are on the line and ready to speak.

I used to know a rather gruff old duffer and a fusty aged eccentric who used to pick up the telephone when it rang and used to bellow out "SPEAK".
