I heard a University Professor in Tehran interviewed yesterday, who was clearly no supporter of the Iranian regime, explain why it was extremely unlikely that Iran would get either directly involved, or encourage its proxies to. The regime has more than enough on their plate internally, with a lot of unrest and economic problems, to consider confronting Israel. Their military is no match either.

I save my comments for the pathetically risible.

Seems I have touched a nerve.

Worry not, I shall ignore your posts from now on

Splendid! A double win today.

Please don't change yor mind.

I think there is no violence involved. But then, I am assuming you are not Muslim, in which case, I'm unsure.

Perhaps but Shakespeare had a different view. Often when regimes are in trouble at home they cause trouble abroad to deflect attention away.

"So shaken as we are, so wan with care,
Find we a time for frighted peace to pant
And breathe short-winded accents of new broils
To be commenced in strands afar remote."

George Bush also said something but perhaps a little less eloquent.

Were you there?

He obviously reads history.

You should try it.

I doubt whether Shakespeare when gazing from his window in Stratford saw too many US aircraft carriers cruising down the Avon.

Hah hah. The point being that 400 years ago it was well known that dictators start trouble abroad to divert attention away from their domestic problems.

I don't pretend to be an expert on Iranian politics but it would not surprise me if they got involved.

The Falklands campaign being a case in point.

I would be very surprised if Iran involved themselves directly. Nothing more than a handful of drones to Hezbollah.
