The man I would be chasing after is Russell Martin at Southampton. Doubt he would come to us now, bit like the Ipswich manager who has just given us the cold shoulder apparently, but worth a try.

Both those mentioned Managers have an excellent chance of promotion.
Why would they potentially want to play in the Championship with us??

Possibly correct, but due to his stubborn perseverance with staying with a very elderly Manager well past his sell by date, will no doubt oversee his Club ply their trade in the Championship next season.
Some legacy!!

I respectfully disagree with any excuses for the manager last night. I'd think it delusional to say we should be expecting a result against Chelsea so my comments are not in isolation.

GK - Unless there is something behind the scenes that the club are keeping completely silent upon, for whatever reason, the continued selection of Henderson over Johnstone is clearly an incorrect one and makes the investment in Henderson, above other areas that needed resourcing too, look absolutely insane.

Poor substitutions - have been a theme since the beginning with Roy and last night was no different. We've now lost our best player due to a beyond bizarre decision.

Conceding very costly goals either early or late in games - once, twice, maybe a few times this might be chalked down to bad luck but is clearly a management issue and continuous theme.

Set pieces - the centre of his England debacle and we continue to be vulnerable to them and incapable of capitalising upon them for goals of our own.

Fitness - Players looking shattered and long out of games well before they end.

Shirking responsibility - The fans are unrealistic, the players aren't good enough, it was the medical staff, it's just bad luck. I'm unaware of any other professional context where blaming everything around you for poor performance is acceptable.

We have the fourth lowest goal tally in the league, is it three home wins all season and only two wins in about fifteen games now - These are facts not opinions.

What is the argument for Roy as a sincere question? He sets us up well? He makes us hard to beat even if we're not entertaining? He has vast experience? There's literally nobody else? May have been the case seasons before but the evidence for him, or lack of it this season, is reflected in the results. He sets us up negatively, lacks any ability to coach set pieces or even attacking play, man-management is in question, he's lost many fans, he can't manage in-game, seems overwhelmed by the mere concept of a substitution... the list goes on from what I can/have seen.

The only argument for him that I can see is that there is nobody else to come in which is very pathetic if so. He looks to have run out of ideas this season. It's not vitriol or resentment, he just doesn't look capable of producing any better for us and completely out of water with the modern game and the opposition who've adapted for it.

It might have been an improved performance against Chelsea but were there any changes there that the fans have not been calling for, for months now? In that case we're all better qualified already. We may have four key players out but that's a new development, not one that can be blamed for the months before.

I'm not sure to what extent fans are supposed to be satisfied watching us lose, often quite pathetically, week after week whilst being told it's just unfortunate and we should hold our nerve as things will miraculously get better despite a vast array of grievances being held?

It's a really sh!t situation, there can't be any doubt. It has all the hallmarks of the chickens coming home to roost following years of apathy in player investment and coaching appointments. It's happened at other clubs and may be happening here.

It's no fun supporting Palace this season, not for me anyway, there's been so little to cheer let alone get excited about and it looks to be headed only one way. I'll keep plodding along to games however, singing GAO and cheering on the team as best I can though. I'm not one for banners, booing or any other demonstrations (although I don't criticise those that do so within reason) but my expectations and hope have left the building, as has my faith in the manager.

What a super post! I’m in total agreement.

Roy will NEVER take any responsibility for his decisions or his stubbornness and because nobody’s in the press wants to run the risk of offending him in the pre or post press conferences he never gets held to account for it - just deflection on injuries or inexperienced players.

So infuriating.

We’re not getting McKenna it’s all parish telling journalists that and making it look as if he is getting someone else. Parish will make it look all summer like he is looking for someone to then appoint Southgate. The bloke has no ambition he isn’t after anyone he wants a yes man in Southgate that he can control

It does look a bit unlikely given that Ipswich may be going up and we may be going down. I hope he has Hodgson in the loop otherwise he may take umbrage and end up not giving a toss.

Southgate might feel it is beneath him, especially if England gets a good draw and makes the semis at least. at least we would be spared Phillips and Henderson

And to answer your question, staying up I wouldn't consider a success just preferable to the alternative.

Lots of lessons to be learned from this season. Parish is many things but stupid is not one of them.

History says that making a change at this stage in the season will result in relegation. It is too late for any manager to instigate any change in tactics. A change should have been made early January.

Hope the players are up for the fight, if they are we still have a chance.

Just a reminder, Vieira left in March last year
