With Munoz providing the attacking width on the right it's more likely that Olise would play 'tucked inside' anyway.
I don't think Olise would be out of place in an inside forward positon.
There could be an attempt made to play Eze and Olise floating around either side of Mateta with freedom to move around as moves develop. In the current system though that would mean no place for Ayew.
It would mean Mitchell would have to replicate advanced Munoz's role on the left side and the jury is out on that at the moment.
Glasner was encouraging Mitchell to go forward on Saturday and I observed him instructing Lerma to move towards the left to provide cover.

My main concern with the setup is that it may not best suit our most creative players, Eze and Olise. Their preferred positions are as a No 10 and right wing but it seems as though Glasner wants to play them as old-fashioned inside forwards. I guess time will tell and one or both may be gone in the summer, anyways

There has been the suggestion from some posters that Ayew could be converted to a LWB as competition or replacement for Mitchell. Could be an option for when Olise returns. Long term, though, it seems the club's jury is still out regarding Mitchell, who according to my records only has a year left on his contract.

It will be interesting to see how well Mitchell adapts to the role in the Forest and Bournemouth games after 3 weeks of Glasner training.

That’s good to hear. I quite like the way modern coaches are happy to coach from the touchline. It feels like they’re earning their corn. Something Roy never did although Ray did more than enough shouting from the sidelines for both of them!

Well my 5-2 prediction proved a bit off the mark. But with 21 shots, 4 on target, on another day 4 or 5 would be quite likely. On Olise and Eze I favour giving them freedom. Remember how Wilf would often switch flanks which can also confuse defenders. I know some (MOTD and Sky) pundits get a hard on watching uber-disciplined automatons but there will always be a place for flair, independence of spirit and the unexpected. Hopefully the more exciting tactical changes may limit the exodus of the stars.

I did a post early hours on Sunday saying that I think Eze could be a casualty of how OG wants to play. I hope I’m wrong but he will definitely need to work on the defending side of the game.

I think for the system to work we need a really strong middle.

Doucoure, Lerma and Wharton in the middle, this midfield offers a huge amount of protection but with Wharton an ability to open up the opposition with a defence splitting pass.

Olise or Eze behind mateta.

There is the dream option of Olise being put in as much more attacking LWB to get him and Eze on the field together and with that midfield 3 plus the 3 centre backs there should be enough cover as long as Olise tracks back as needed (which he does do more than Eze).

If not a left sided Munoz will be top of OG’s shopping list

I never expected us to beat Luton.
Initially, I had in my mind 1-1 but as the game approached I was infused with negativity and my thinking was altered to 0-3.

I can see what you're saying, BUT, if, as you want, we'd have to go 433 & resort to a flat back 4 & no wing-backs. Glasner doesn't do a back 4.

i think he might revert to this when Olise returns.
He essentially kept the same Everton lineup as he only had 2 or 3 days with the players.
With injuries there are not many alternatives - this changes with Olise.

In terms of Saturday clearly the equaliser was a big kick in the teeth, but that's football.
I don't think we played great, but were clearly the better side.
Luton have about 10 injuries (including their club captain who has a heart condition) and both CBs went off during the game so not sure we can bemoan our injury list.

In terms of subs i think i could have guessed them before the game, however, sometimes you need to assess the situation. Taking Mateta off just after the 2nd CB went off seemed a little strange as he could have had some joy against a makeshift defence. OE just took the pressure off the backline.

Similarly, whilst Wharton does tire after the 70 minute mark he could have been instructed to stay a little deeper the last 10. Hughes just offers so little.
Ayew was clearly not 100% fit so Amadaha seemed obvious on paper, but what a disappointment. His confidence looks shattered. When he lost the ball in the 96th min just take a booking - i did think it might be a foul but having watched it again it would have been a soft one.

As for the goal Richards positioning was very poor. Always stay go side to your man. Andersen was understandably distracted by other players in the box - including Barkley as Hughes was watching some 10 yards away

When all fit no. But we have to remember that when Olise, Eze and Zaha were fit he didnt get in the team either.

Jordan is, and will be a hugely valuable part of the squad. But he's not going to push us forward. I know that sounds super harsh.

What he will offer us is a brilliant option off the bench, (Imagine on Sat being able to bring on Ayew and Doucoure to Lerma to replace tired legs) and a really dependable option when Eze Olise aren't fit.

whilst I'm not really against some of those ideas, I don't think we are going to see it under Glasner. At least not any time soon.

but what you will see is a CB stepping up into midfield, or Mitchell/Munoz tucking in to provide bodies when we need them.

This new formation could be great, but does require good tactical awareness and fitness.
