and yes i see what you meen about undermining myself so ill say it differently 'you could try research it and look for any imformation about what ive said but i doubt there would be any imformation for you. to you they may be moronic but anyone who has lived out there im sure quite a few will be of the same opinion

Jonsey - I agree with some of your points about Saudi, as I lived there for two and a half years in the early 90's. But, those are the laws of the country - we went there to earn tax free salaries, and we had to abide by the local laws (even if we all bent them somewhat!). I think the biggest problem in the UK at the moment is not that some of the minorities bend the laws, but, that a small percentage of them clearly abuse the laws - and generally tend to get away with it. Any criticicm of them is clearly (unfortunately) seen to be non PC!

Sorry, but I just don't buy the excuse that we should treat people of other religions and races badly just because that's the treatment we might receive if we were in another country. I know that Christians in particular, and whites in general, are persecuted in many countries around the world, but since when does someone else doing something wrong make it right for you to do it back? Treating other people with respect is the way you are most likely to gain their trust. Yes, you may get some people who think you're there to be a pushover, but I believe the majority respond positively to that attitude in this country, and become more likely to integrate. fair point matthau - but one that i believe has already been nullified by rach_d_cpfc

Of course, if you want to argue about Abu Ghraib, that would be most useful!!!

Firstly, Saudi is a ridiculously extreme example of the Middle East. I think you will find that most Arabs in the Middle East find Saudi extreme, and few agrew with their ways of life or the way they treat foreigners. Secondly, i believe it was Singaporean Eagle who said that in many Arab countries it's against the law to practice Christanity. This is simply not true, so please don't even try to pass it off as true. If you had visited most of the Middle East you will find that it is perfectly legal to practice christianity, so please don't look at Saudi as an indicator to how most of the Middle East treats its foreigners. Thirdly i would like to say that i agree totally with the view that the level PC in UK is ridiculous.
