I think there are un-answered questions though.

If it was there intent to kill loads of people why didn't they target a bigger station such as London Bridge/Charing X?

Did they only target a "smaller" station because they didn't want to kill, but just to "prove a point"?

Is there more still to come?

Why was there no warning?

Today in london was really eerie. I work right near Tavistick Place, the amount of people was amazing. Its something I don't want to experiance it again. It hasn't sunk in yet, but when it does it will be horrible.

Traditionally Al-Quaeda do not give warnings, unlike the IRA.

It seems unlikely they are more to come, at least for the time being.

But if they had really wanted to cause maximum number of deaths, they would have launched chemical attacks on the tubes. It would have killed hundreds more.

This has been designed to cause maximum disruption, a number of deaths, and spread fear throughout Britain. And most importantly send a message to Tony Blair and the other G8 leaders.

Also as I said before, pictures speak a thousand words. They like the dramatic open air pictures. Flooding the tubes with gas doesn't have the same impact as seeing a bus blown to pieces, harsh as that may sound...

what a horrific day. video footage from mobile phones lends these atrocities a strange new angle. sky keep showing one tube carriage just after the explosion where everyone's filing off the tube, all totally calm. amazing. hopefully we'll never know what it's like to be in a situation like that. for some, the tragedy's only just begun. i remember seeing an interview with the father of one of the heysel victims. he said people who talk about the heysel tragedy are wrong. there are thousands of heysel tragedies – survivors losing the plot, and relatives of the victims likewise. this'll be the same.
a real f***ed up world we live in.

Harsh but true. A bus blown apart may not be quite as dramatic as a plane flying into a building but it is still impressive.

It times like this you realise how lucky you are in life having loved ones around you ect. The picture that I saw on (I think) Sky, from a mobile phone where they were just walking down the tunnel calm and compesed left me in awe.

After seeing that picture,I am confident that despite the awfull tradegy that we have what it takes to be proud of our (fairly) free democratic society and that we will no doubt rise above thees murdering assholes.

Was it just me or was Ken Livingston's speech from Singapoore a very passionate way of saying "f*** YOU!" to the terroists. I don't like the guy to be honest with you, but I felt his speech was passionate, well put, and sumed up what London stands for. I thought he was gonna break down at one point. His face was a mixture of dibalief, sadness and anger.

The one thing that bothered? I can't put my finger on why. But it was Mr Bush's speach after the joint statemant from Gleneagles. All the talk of "The War on Terror" ect. It bugs me.

Ken Livingstone is a 2 faced f^cker. He always has supported the Arab causes, always criticised the Israeli's.

Well now it should be our turn to act like the Israeli's. As an earlier poster stated you will not get rid of all the terrorists, but you can make sure the bast*rds are always looking over their shoulders. If they kill (without trial) our people, then we kill them without any trial. You fight fire with fire.

I have to agree with this, and as i said to a few people earlier, if they were intent on killing loads of people why attack today? why not attack yesterday when it was fully publicised that if London got the 2012 bid that there would be celebrations going on at Trafalguar Square?

I thought that at first, but then it wouldn't make any sense. They had no way of knowing if London would win the bid. Given Al Quida's history it would make more sense for them to attack during the G8 meetings. Having the leaders of the 8 richest countries in the world so close to the terrorist attack makes whatever point they were trying to make all the more forcefull.

I also belive that if we hadn't of been charing the G8 meeting they would have doen somethign like this before the general elaction in steadd, ala the Madrid train bombings.

So not only have we decided today that all Muslims are terrorists, we're including the Arabs now too. Who else can we include?

And then end up with a neverending war where no-one is safe? Sorry, but that is the dumbest thing I have heard all day.

And anyway, he supports the Arab cause. So what? It's as if you are saying all Arabs are terrorist.

But isn't that what we've got already? The terrorists have shown that they can strike at the heart of the country despite a high level of security. Also, pointing out that Livingstone's stance has always been pro-Arab (which it has) doesn't mean that the poster is suggesting that all Arabs are terrorists.

I have to agree Cucking. I've just read the post too, he does not say Arabs are terrorists.

Do people not have an argument, and thus are having to play the race card where it is clearly not appropriate.

Thought that you may come back with this so I did a bit of research. This is the type of person that Livingstone supports

[Link]

now you may feel that we should just sit back and take these attacks but when do we do something about it? If we do not strike back and strike back hard then God help us all. You say neverending conflict, can't you understand that this is just what terroists want..without it they cease to be important. We can try and negotiate and give in to every demand they have, but when do we say NO MORE!! I feel sorry for people that say be reasonable, be PC. They will carry on doing things they think are furthering their cause, well it is time we did something to protect ourselves.

The current 'scenario' the authorities are looking at is that the bus bomb wasn't intentional. The bus may well have been carrying a bomber and the device went off before getting to the intended target.
