Life is cheap in some places. And there is an element trying to introduce that philosophy into the Western World.

I'm not going to attempt to replicate the many thoughts of either you or Pete, but I would just say one thing - '' when in Rome do as the Romans do '' - a familiar saying, I think.

If people choose to live in this country they should integrate into it - that doesn't mean totally abandoning all their traditional values - but ultimately it is clear that certain cultures are at odds with our long standing ones.

If people - of any race, colour or creed can't accept our values and our culture then they should go elsewhere rather than impose themselves on us.

Roughly 30 children were killed in a suicide bomb attack in Iraq yesterday. CHILDREN.

How low do they have to go before someone questions whether this really is Godly behaviour? How twisted does their sense of morality and reality have to be, to enable them to carry out such an act?

Just when you think you've seen it all eh.

I just wanted to say thanks to all contributors to this and other threads that have discussed the London bombings. Reading through these threads and seeing the wide array of opinions and reactions from a bunch of everyday Brits has allowed me a much closer understanding and involvement in these calamitous events in our city, at a time when I’ve felt isolated by “the tyranny of distance.”

It has been far more enlightening than any of the standard media coverage, precisely because it has come from a composite of the glorious fabric of society, and not the purveyors of public opinion.

Situations of violence and hostility often develop when you get two opposing streams of thoughts from strong minded individuals or groups who, for historical reasons, often valid although sometimes forgotten in the mists, are not prepared to even try to communicate any more. At times, this thread has been an interesting, and dare I say it, entertaining, microcosm of this very concept.

Thanks again.

RIP the victims of 7/7. May peace soon be with their families and friends and all those injured and otherwise affected.

& as for Chicken Tikka Massala, you will find if you do the research this is a LONDON dish, I understand in India they do not have the sauce that we have just spiced meat, maybe I am wrong so please feel free to correct me.

They have been cooking dishes like this for centuries, as they have all the spices there, where we only got them through trading when the sea traders were passing by England. Just because someone here gave it its name it doesn't mean it becomes a London or UK dish!

Chicken Tikka Massala in the form you by from the curry house is an english dish, in India they make similar without the sauce as with most of the curries now, they were westernised for our tastes

It appears that the 'mastermind' of the bombings entered the UK via a channel port and left hours before the bombings.

He was a known Al-Queda operative and was on a security services 'watch list', however, the security services have told reporters that he was not a sufficiently high risk target to warrant observation. (This was confirmed as broadly correct by Ian Blair on Today this morning.)

I've got a crazy idea...don't let the c*** into the country! Simple as that. Why do we allow these sum here and then decide if we have the resources to watch them? They should be banned form entering this country. We’re a f***ing island for god’s sake!

Our borders are a f***ing joke. We've got 500,00 people here and we don't know who they are, when they got here or where they live!

Also, the 250 known people who've been to Afghanistan training camps. Where should they be? In prison. If you go to an Al-Queda camp, you have , IMO, relinquished your right to live in this country. You are a threat to us and should be either locked yup or deported.

Political correctness and the political classes have crippled this country and failed us all. Where we were once strong, now we are weak. . We need to get serious and ask these incompetent idiots(Tony & Ian) to start taking our safety seriously.

The world stopped for 2 minutes for 50 Londoners yesterday, but who stopped for even a moment for 20 Iraqi kids? Nobody is even counting their dead - and while they remain deemed worth less than us, they will fight back. I'd expect us to do the same if it happened to us.

I'm not a supporter of the war on Iraq (and never was, I marched against the war) but you must accept that it's these idiot loony Muslims that are, for the most part, killing the Iraqi civilians.

If they want to fight back against anyone, they should do so against Al-Queda.

You are worse than the bombers, for you don't even have the courage of your convictions. I wouldn't even wipe you off the sole of my shoe.

I'm not on anyone’s 'side' but that comment is pathetic and insulting to those who've lost their lives.

"We MUST understand - but not condone or excuse - the motivations for these murders," - HMHS

Perhaps constructive debate and discussion might follow if you attempted to 'understand' why individuals to the right of you politically and ideologically feel the way that they do about some of these issues.

We can never be 100% sure what motivated those four twisted souls, but we can be pretty sure that Iraq - where this country's forces contribute to a 7/7 every single day - was a major factor.

You obviously know a lot more than me on things so I'm not going to bother getting too in-depth, but last time I checked none of our armed forces were strapping bombs to themselves and attempting to kill innocent people.

I know innocent people have unfortunately died in Iraq, but the armed forces didn't set out to do that in the same way these suicide bombers did in London, and elsewhere in the World.

How can we also be "pretty sure" that Iraq was a major factor? These bombers may not have given a toss about what happened in Iraq. But they may have used it as an excuse. Why were the Towers bombed on September 11th? Was a reason needed then, or did they just want to cause hurt and suffering to the Americans?

As for George Galloway, how cold-hearted can you be to effectively say "I told you so" just hours after the bombings took place? I've always expected London to be targetted, Iraq or not. He may know his stuff and have some strong beliefs, but all I see is someone shamefully using the war in Iraq to boost their own ego and detract from their own short-comings.

George Galloway is scum.

On 7/7/05 he couldn't even wait until the bodies were cold before he sought to gain publicity for his stalinist/Arabist views.

If Bin Laden was at Calais with an Army people like Galloway would be waiting at Dover, cheering them on.

Total :-w

There's a lot there I could comment on, but I'm way too busy unfortunately.

One of many issue I have with that is why should the US withdraw from Kuwait, where it was invited to provide protection, simply because a bunch of terrorists say so? That would be total capitulation to the terrorist scum.

I don't know figures, but I'd be very interested to know the proportion of everyday Iraqis who'd rather the troops hadn't gone in versus those who want them out. Should they withdraw simply because those that want them out are more extreme, have bombs, and are willing to use them (against anybody - even their own children)?

They're very much "damned if you do, damned if you don't" - if they withdraw now, they'll be slated if Iraq descends into mayhem for not providing security, if they don't, they're an illegal occupying army.

One more thing - the next time a regime decides to gas it's own civilians for being of the wrong ethnic background (Iraq) 'ethnically cleanse' itself (the Balkans) or any number of other hideous crimes which go on around the world which the west has seen fit to get involved in, should we want nothing to do with it, in case we make ourselves targets for extremists?

No, I'm not daft enough to believe that Iraq's human rights were the main reason we went in, but I'm trying to make a point.

That loony right winger whose name I can't recall who nail bombed Brick Lane, Brixton, and the Admiral Duncan - surely we made ourselves targets by allowing asians (Brick Lane), West Indians (Brixton) and gay people (the Admiral Duncan) to 'roam free' in our country - shouldn't we, by your argument, have capitulated to him as well? I hope we NEVER go down that road!
