I agree with the general consensus that since sliced bread nothing has been bettered.

But I would like to know what the best thing was before sliced bread

Me and some of my relatives are going to a church service next week as one of the children who died was related to us. The disaster still resonates very strongly in this area. Although I was only a young child when it happened I was taught about it and the horror of it.

With minIng as big as it was in the 60s and 70s I don't think that there were many schools in Wales that didn't commemorate it every year. What surprises me is how few English people in their 30s or younger know about it.
