If he gets a chance no doubt there'll be the usual section who give the kid stick...sure to boost his confidence

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong

As I've said before on here, saw both Vardy & Ladapo play at non-league level & if you'd asked me which would make it I would not have said Vardy. It's weird how some of them make it and others don't but guess it depends on what suits them as players.

I think it was only about two years between Smalling struggling to hold a place in the Maidstone team to him playing for Manure in the Champions League.

We could do worse than give the lad a chance.

sounds like the ol zaha / J Williams comparison

When Vardy joined Leicester from then non-league Fleetwood, Leicester were in the Championship and he managed to score quite a few goals for them. They got promoted that year.

Bit different to being thrust straight into the rarefied atmosphere of the PL in a struggling team.

Agreed,
Why do people not seem to understand how unfair (not to mention potentially damaging) throwing a youngster in to our situation is?

Are you having a f*cking laugh?
He's a 24 year old professional footballer and you think it would be unfair to give him the opportunity to play a game of professional football at Old Trafford?
It's the opportunity of a f*cking life time, if he does well he could have another 8 weeks to cement his place in a top flight 1st eleven.
He was playing for margate 2 years ago and probably playing night games after a hard day's scaffolding, or something similar.
I bet Rooney is still kicking himself that he was brought on against Arsenal at 17, should have waited til he was at least 28 to give him his debut. FFS.

if its the choice of a 38 year old rickie lambert, or a pretty immobile bakary sako, or taking a punt on a kid like lapado for me its a no brainer.

give the lad a chance, hes also more match fit than sako.

Give a youngster a try out he can't do worse than no goals, the only way is up.

Like a moron you only mention the POSSIBLE positives. I bet you buy a lottery ticket every week don't you. What is it now 27,000,000 to 1 that you will win?
If the lad has a howler it could destroy his professional confidence for ever. Better to play him in a less important game against lesser opposition. Its what a responsible coach would do. But I guess you are only interested in the slim slim chance of a result eh? Sod the lads career!
And I cant believe you are comparing him to Rooney! Really?

His failure to score goals in League One suggests not. He's not been sufficiently rated by any of our managers to be given a league game, but as I said on another thread, if he can't get in a side with no other striker, he never will.

I saw him once in a pre-season game. Campbell outclassed him

Of course, he might place a penalty better than Vardy

I agree but don't forget Vardy's first season at Leicester in the Championship was mixed to say the least with a squad most felt under achieved - he only scored a handful of goals. The following (promotion) season he was on fire.

First season in the EPL & they barely survived, again with him scoring relatively few. Following season he was knocking them in for fun again.

He's been given a lot of leeway at times & you could say the current Leicester team play to his strengths rather than him fitting in. We could learn lessons irrespective of who's up front....

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!
