Steve Parish? ... he's just been overwhelmed by his own ego. We mustn't complain though. Sit back and watch all the $hite 'cos the season is still young!

For all those on here who continue to defend Steve Parish no matter what and worship him like a god, who was to blame for releasing Frazier Campbell before we appointed a new manager? who was to blame for the fact that we did not sort out a replacement striker (or 2 strikers - given the injury to Wickham as well!!) during the whole of the summer transfer window. Who was at fault for the collapse of the Niasse transfer right at the last minute?? Even if the agent was playing hardball with his fee (surely the long term benefits of staying in this megabucks league would have been worth it)

Now Benteke could be out for two months!!! We really are well and truly in the brown stuff. The chickens have come home to roost

Personally, any year at this level is a bonus for me as historically we are a solid 'second tier' club. If we were talking about relegation to League 1 then i'd also 'have the hump' but when i look at the amount of larger teams below us, i'm more than happy.
We're a small club in a big league and until we can relocate then we always will be just that, imo.
Is Steve perfect? Of course not. But he's the best we've had for a bloody long time.

Adversity causes some men to break - others to break records - William Arthur Ward.

So from adversity comes opportunity.

It's not as if Tekkers has been "ripping it up" and banging in goals left, right and centre.

So now we have to give someone else a chance, someone with fire in their belly and with a point to prove.

Someone like Freddie Ladapo - yes maybe raw, but as someone else said what's the point of having youth players unless they are given a chance.

Now we have to give it a chance - who would you rather have an aging "has been" (or maybe even "not has been" if it's true as reported we are considering Rickie Lambert or Carlton Cole as free agent options. Or a youngster with real will and desire.

To my mind we haven't successfully bought anyone through from the youth ranks since Wilf - he's debut as an 18 year old in 2010 - so 7 years ago - that's shocking.

As I said at the top what some look upon as adversity others see as opportunity - it's a state of mind.

If you don't give youth a chance you'll never know.

Goes without saying the wheeling and dealing at the club is a shambles and what can I say that hasn't been said before, losing those three home games before playing City, United and Chelsea means every other team has had a head start. On the positive side we will have got four fixtures that we may not got any points out off in any case out of the way. The rest of the bottom feeders have yet to play them.

Spot on. Seem to remember Sekajja being given a couple of games and scored in one. Give the oppo something to think about than a journeyman worse than Tekkers. Suspect Sako will be given a chance though.

Loftus-Cheek looks to me like he could cause enough mayhem in an opposition penalty area to upstage Benteke without too much trouble. He's got the physicality, pace and skill and looks to be adaptable. Just might not be experienced in the specific skills of the centre-forward and we might need to play to his feet rather than his head. Play Zaha and Townsend on the wings and we should score goals all right. Bakary Sako's goal in the league cup was pretty much a gift but Tekers in current form would probably have fluffed it.
