From my perspective, if I had ventured over to Africa during our 'Foot and mouth' crisis and a local commented to me in a light-hearted moment of raillery that he hoped I never brought it over with me, I would certainly not have been offended one iota and would probably have countered with my own banter !

It was made to a black person regarding a disease from a Black Country. The possibility of it coming from another predominantly Black Country with a white minority in a predominantly black continent isn't the issue. He put his foot in his mouth and as football is trying to remove unnecessary digs at minorities they either have to accept it or lose out on the gravy train.

Outside of dysfunctional father relationships hitting or being hit by a father wasn't what I meant by fearing a father. Your father is meant to show you what it is to be a man. If you have been brought up properly you should fear unduly disappointing him in that estimation. If you fear a man because of physical intimidation you were brought up differently to me. You recognise size and power but you don't change your thoughts because of it. If you do then that's you. I personally don't regard mentioning someone's skin colour as a big deal but there needs to be a point to it....otherwise why mention it...I don't mention white people particularly. However, if I did mention a skin colour I don't give a feck what anyone else thinks. They are not my boss.....and if they want to play victim, feck their pathetic selves. Saying to someone black that you hope their parents don't bring Ebola from their native country is in the grey area that's not suit to suit or the conversation at a civilised adult party or dinner party. I bet loads of people have worked in environments where inappropriate comments were unacceptable Monday to Friday at work but when they open the changing room door the rules change and loads of inappropriate garbage spills out from those who'd rather not have to think of what they say. You notice how some keep quiet when some of the cr@p from some tools comes out. No I don't change my words according to size, but at times you do size someone up. Many people do. I don't 'fear' many people at all but I can certainly gauge if someone could take me out if that's a possible path. A recent car parking argument with some t1t recently whereby the thought of him pulling a dangerous weapon due to his confidence didn't seem worth continuing the argument where he was in the wrong. Mentioning the colour recently was of significance. Also, if you're going to narrow it down, what do you say, the guy with the Afro hair or other certain Afro Caribbean features that might cause offence because there's history of it.
