Blame Muslims, blame Jews. At least he's even handed.

I don't get bothered about people being critical of the Israeli government and the settler nutters (I am very critical myself). What sometimes bothers me is how little some of them also froth about the situation of comparables..ie shia in Saudi,Kurds in Turkey (much worse than Palestinians) ...leaving an impression that a part of their frothing arises from some hoary old canards about conspiracies getting mixed in.

He wasn't saying anything about the labour party.Sadly, all parties have their share of anti semites. Sadly,in my experience in greater numbers towards the right end of the spectrum but present on the left and lib dems too.

When a poll was done a year or two ago,the lib dens can out on top for anti semitic supporters.

Before the state of Israel most anti semites were on the right. After the state of Israel most anti semites are on the left.

As I have said previously I think labels are attached to people far too easily as it's just a weapon for opponents.

I'm sure there are anti semites about to varying degrees here. One look at Youtube comments will tell you that.....But I don't think criticising someone who is Jewish is anti semitic. I think Jews as a group are a positive force, but I certainly don't like the fact that their government has given up on peace and is land hoarding and expanding.

I'm a nationalist with a small 'n' so I'm not anti zionist but I'm certainly anti expansionist in the modern age outside of actual official warfare.

Hmm. So is it alright if a nation invaded another, took land and said, it's ok. We've officially declared our incursion as warfare?

Do you visit E Europe or the Balkans much? Much more antisemitism on the right (and the largely right-wing Catholic and Orthodox churches remain full of it there)...and that's always been the overall case here and in France too.

The rise of greater (it was always there) anti semitism on the left here is a phenomenon from the past 40 years,Israel came into being c.70 years ago. That comes from a minority of dodgy people attaching themselves to the "anti zionist label" (bit like some on the right use more socially acceptable terms to say what would otherwise be viewed as unacceptable prejudice towards differing ethnicities and races),coupled with some simplistic thinking. To say the actions of the Israeli government haven't helped would be an understatement.

As to criticising a Jewish person,I think you again miss the point.Of course anyone can criticise anyone of any ethnicity. Its when people talk about a whole ethnicity as a collective with the same characteristics "the jewish lobby","jews in Britain",that things can move towards dodginess at times and hoary old canards crop up (however unconsciously).

Not really.

I don't think there is a general rule that I'm comfortable with but at what stage does land won in battle become the property of its occupants?

Because that is how pretty much most land you have ever stood on came to be recognised as belonging to whoever.

It's very individual.

Do we go back to Constantinople? Should the Kurds, have their own nation on Syrian, Iraqi, Turkish land? Should Israel cease to exist?

Yeah, cool isn't it...I get to refer to groups using collective names. The catholics, the protestants, the sikhs, the jews, the hindus.....Israel is an ethno state...not really seeing why it's a problem referring to it as their government.

My observation on right/left attitudes on anti semitism is entirely my own and related to Britain.

I'm sure there are valid points you make about other areas of the globe. There has certainly been anti semitism in the church historically...for obvious reasons. Though Jews were rescued by Catholics during the Holocaust....though they should have done a lot more.

It's fine to talk about groups using collective nouns. All that matters is what you are saying and if it's accurate or not.

I don't see it as dodgy but if indeed someone does say something 'dodgy' then that is good, as it brings out debate and these issues can be discussed.

As long as those ideas are not based upon violence then honest debate is better than the alternative.

That only happens lawfully with a consensus of nations.

The damage was done as far as Israel is concerned when nations agreed to create a place that was previously only a Biblical tale and put it right next to Arabs. The migration was only meant to be limited but those nice Jewish militants decided to start a bombing campaign killing innocebt people, including British citizens and eventually got their way with a larger influx.

Claiming anti Semitism is just the modern way of avoiding criticism. That should be remembered when discussing other groups who like to hide behind claims of prejudice.

Who'd have thought it, the blokes a lying cund. Even had people on here repeating the lie he's been ordered to pay Hope Not Hate £100k for.

As Mr. Farage is known to be a Palace fan, he could well be a poster on here. I don't want you to get into any trouble talking about him. I hope you accept my friendly alert in the spirit it is meant - if not, please accept my groveling apology.

Yeah, except that being ordered to retract a statement and pay a fine in court is not the same as it being untrue. It just means a judge decided that it was slander without substantive proof.
