I agree with Sportyteacher.

Now I've loved 'The Cup' since I discovered it as a young lad in 1967 and - since discovering 'The Glaziers' 5 years later - I've cherished a dream that we would one day - just once - hold it high and become part of football legend.

But reality has set in for me. We are never going to win it - either fate or the establishment or a combination of both will always conspire against us -so in the current circumstances we should just 'throw it', even if it is against the Seaweed. It saddens me to say it, but that's how it is.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

It would've been so much easier if we'd drawn Mansfield

At this juncture I am NOT that enthusiastic about the FA Cup as far as we are concerned as the PL is all that matters.Maybe I will get interested in the cup if we get to the semi-final.

Perhaps I am a "Miserable sod" as well.

If anyone is that keen to see Palace @ Mansfield, the U18s are playing there on Thursday in the FA Youth cup

Is there a coach?

I'm only kidding. I hope you didn't take offence. I know exactly how you feel! But you've got to always believe it will be great. Otherwise, it's a sad life.

Ah - sadly I'm not sure that I can make it now.

Easily said when its the third round, but as that boulder rolls down hill towards the final, it becomes more and more important and people get more enthusiastic. Its like the League Cup, no one gives a s**t until there is a reasonable chance of winning it (and a trip to Wembley).

I could take winning the FA cup and getting relegated. It'd hurt, sure, but twice now Palace have been within touching distance of that glory - and its a once in a life time thing (My granddad died without seeing it, and his son died without seeing it and I reckon I'd be lucky to see it once).

However I've been around for many promotions and relegations from the top flight.

Apart from anything else it is an extra opportunity for players like Benteke to try and recover his form

Yes I agree.
But also an opportunity for players to get injured and hamper our PL survival fight.
