I don't disagree with your feelings Glazier, but my opinion is that Puncheon has fallen into a very dark place with his game and his life apparently.
Personally I felt he was playing way off the pace and his appalling tackle just exposed how far off the pace he was. It was so off the pace, he ended up injuring himself. Personally I don't think there was malice in it just really bad football timing, for which he suffered the consequences.
Sadly I reckon that may be the last time we see Punch play for us. Don't let one atrocious tackle cloud the service he has given us over the years, but I do think Punch in the premier is probably over.

I don't think Puncheons tackle was deliberately malicious - just ridiculously mis-timed, that's what happens when you are so far off the pace at this level..!!

Personally I think Punch has cut a very frustrated figure ever since Pards dropped him for the FA Cup Final - if I recall correctly he was very vocal about being left out, which he made clear in his celebrations following put us 1 up in the Cup Final - his last goal.

Since then as we have all commented on he has been a shadow of his former self - gone from being a very direct and pacy player to a player that just slows things down, more interested in passing square and backwards, frequently with no or detrimental effect to the play.

Hence Roy has dropped him - why he was ever made Club Captain is beyond me - who made that call was it Sam or FDB..?

Again if I recall correctly didn't he engineer his move to us with suggestions he was homesick? I seem to remember reading that somewhere - could be wrong.

But I'm rambling on I think Puch's issues are around frustration of his own performances or lack of them on the pitch and clearly some issues off it. Whether the two are tangibly linked only Punch himself knows.

Bottom line is at the moment he is way off the pace and nowhere near Premiership standard.

What I would say if this is the case - we shouldn't mercilessly kick a man when he is down - Punch has been very good for us over the years.

It just seems sadly now that time may have come to an end, which is quite sad.

I personally hope he comes out the other side and kicks on again - only time will tell.

But I think i must be a little old fashioned to care about such things, Odd but I still have no time for and never will have any time for Benteke because of the blatant cheating that won him that penalty for Liverpool against us.
