There is no evidence of Sorloth being anything other than pretty big and making a decent effort. If that is quality then I guess Cameron Jerome was quality. I'm predicting that they're of similar ability. I hope he turns out to be quality but I have my doubts.

He was quality tonight....

Anyone notice how he trots up to a player with the ballfrom behind like a wounded pony, or a 5 year old skipping along in a daze, then doesnt challange the player with the ball, in a mincing sort of way, the guys got pace and potential but doesnt have the strength or the bottle to make a challange on a player with the ball, just looks on in admiration, needs to find his feet fast or a spell on the bench!

He can hold off a player or ride a challenge though so anything physical required can be developed. Freedman has definitely found someone with potential imo and some good coaching might make him a success.

Yeah, i agree he has potential, just misplaces a few to many passes for me and not great in the air when the goal kick comes down, and i dont know why he runs or skips up behind a player with the ball and doesnt try an tackle him, just stops and looks in admiration, did the same against spurs, baffles me, but can learn i guess, only better learn fast and get stuck in!

I think you are falling in the trap, like many on the Speroni/Hennessey threads. That thinks, that to rate one Palace player you have to slate the other one playing in the same position.
Sørloth held the ball up today very well and brought others into play, taking the pressure off of our team. There’s no way after today, with our lack of depth that he needs a spell on the bench. Similar Benteke actually looked reasonably interested today , surely a minimum requirement for a professional sportsman, was unlucky with the world class save , but let the whole ground down by letting the ball roll out of play. Neither are world beaters, but for someone watching that didn’t know their history, it would be difficult on last nights performance to know that one has come a afrom the equivalent of league one and the other has cost over 60million in a few moves and an international for one of the favourites to win this years World Cup. Bit of perspective mate.

Not a fan of our transfer policy as I have well documented.

However whether by sheer unbridled luck, good fortune, or an actual eye for a player, I think we have got a rough diamond here.

initially I wasn't impressed with another cheap "who " signing, however from what I have seen of him, I would currently play him up front on his own instead of Benheskey. If you didn't know any different there is no way you could say for certainty which one of them was the 60 million man and who was the exremely long punt.

His touch looks assured, and I'm sure once he has had a few more games to get up to speed with the physicality of the Prem, he could be the one to give us the points we need on our very favourable run in.

I'm confident we will stay up ...just, and that he will have some say in it as well.

I noticed the red mark under is left eye but then watched his interview and then saw a real juicy black eye as well.

Can't remember when it happened and he made no mention of it in the interview.

Obviously he is no wilting flower and not afraid to get stuck-in - something I admire when so many moaning pansies collapse in a heap at the slightest contact.

Some say he looked slow but that is perhaps because he was trying to hold the ball up, which no other Palace player was confident enough to do.

Wasn't Benteke holding the ball up when he assisted Townsend.....or Schlupp when he carried the ball on numerous occasions to ease the pressure? Or is 'holding the ball up' more static, with your back to goal and feeding runners/bringing others into play?

Sorloth has come from a much lower league and his intro to Premiership football is against spurs and Man Utd and to me once he gets the hang of the speed of it all he will be a good player for us.
He holds the ball well and appears stronger than he looks.
Good on him last night!
