Interesting statements from (allegedly) the man himself in today's Express....

That “ongoing back problem” doesn’t sound promising at all. Think it could be a big red herring we’re glossing over.

Apparently Newcastle are after him. If he is available I would hope that we would make a bid.

On the plus side, it makes it less likely that a 'big' club will go for him which coupled with the fact that he does not want to go anywhere to sit on the bench could leave us in with a chance for him........ if we wanted to take the risk.

He does say that the problem is improving the more he plays and that he is managing it, and at least our team will understand the problem and be able to help him with it.

That is the concern with him. Its well known that he has to 'manage' his back issue even from youth football. For the fee he will command now its a calculated risk, much the same as with Wilshere.

He says he is doing yoga.

I have a bad back and 2 years ago I struggled to put my socks on. I took up yoga and it has changed my life. I will never be flexible but what I can do today for me is amazing. It also motivated me in giving up alcohol which I had a problem with. Today I am a fitter calmer person and I would recommend it especially to men I wish I had taken up when I was RLC's age

Anyway back to RLC yoga is recommended for managing backs if he does it daily it will strengthen muscles and add flexibility.

Just out of interest does anyone know how long his contract with Chelsea is?

If it's only a year then he has a decision to make but if it's 3 or 4 years then it may not be in his own hands.

You’d have to say that we are a more attractive proposition than Newcastle. Especially to a local lad who has just had a successful season on loan with us. I’m still confident.

I'm not so sure as Crystal Palace players never get picked to play for England. I know that for a fact as I've read it on HOL loads of times so it must be true

Three years left.

It’s been actual l starting to sound positive...

Potentially he could agree another loan season and that might suit him and Chelsea. He gets a season of football and Chelsea don’t have to rush him in to the first team before they think he’s ready.

Only place I can imagine he’d want to go is Palace after such a break through season with us. Why rock the boat other than to go back to Chelsea...

Alternatively we make Chesea a £25m+ offer they can’t refuse... ?

Let’s hope he doesn’t tear the World Cup alight....
