what else does it equate with, for you?

atmosphere | ˈatməsfɪə |
noun [usually in singular]
1 the envelope of gases surrounding the earth or another planet: part of the sun's energy is absorbed by the earth's atmosphere.
• the air in any particular place: these beetles breed best in a damp atmosphere.
• (abbreviation atm) Physics a unit of pressure equal to mean atmospheric pressure at sea level, 101,325 pascals.
2 the pervading tone or mood of a place, situation, or creative work: the hotel has won commendations for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
• [mass noun] a pleasurable and interesting mood: a superb restaurant, full of atmosphere.
ORIGIN
mid 17th century: from modern Latin atmosphaera, from Greek atmos ‘vapour’ + sphaira ‘ball, globe’.

The English dictionary doesn't even mention noise in its definition.
Definitely my last word on this thread.

People convieniently forget that the HF were formed in 2005 whilst we were in the Championship. Contrary to what many believe on here, they didn’t just appear when we got to the Premiership. They have been at least equally loyal as other season ticket holders over this 13 year period (in my opinion they do far more than other season ticket holders to back the team, so deserve all the preferential treatment they receive).

They of course haven’t been around since the stand opened, but you can’t blame them for that as most of them probably weren’t even born then. For all we know they could all be season ticket holders since a very young age but did not join the HF until they stopped going with their dads.

To suggest the HF might not be in regular attendance if we got relegated seems extremely unfair.

Unfair as in moving a load of fans from their long term seats because you don’t fancy the ones you’ve got any more ?

interested to hear what those in the stand think of a no-numbered-seats policy. I'm sure it'd be initially difficult, and fractious, but would soon settle.

With the proposed singing section, there's nothing to say it wouldn't dilute over time. (if it ever gets going). Then what...

...what's needed is constant evolution and dynamism. people trying to congregate in little groups to get things going.

what's not needed --atmosphere wise at least-- is the same old faces sitting for decades in the same old seats.

How has this harmed the atmosphere in recent years? Not at all in my view and even if it did, doesn't mean old faces should be moved to accommodate another fan. The whole thing has been appallingly handled and the fix is ill thought out and obvious consequences not anticipated.

Don't kid yourself this is about 'atmosphere'. Because isn't that what the HF say they were doing in Block B?

So why not continue to do this in Block B? They've made plenty of noise, got plenty of TV time and have managed to organise displays from there.

This is about a piss poor effort in marketing the Club and is obviously 100% supported by Parish - to the detriment of loyal long standing supporters who have been given an ultimatum, with no real recourse other than being thrown a few crumbs.

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour, ill thought out and very short termism - this could have all been resolved when the new stand opens.

Just wait until those around those 400 in Block E get their views of the game ruined by persistent standing, flares going off and the general flag waving and tom foolery committed by this group. There will be trouble without a doubt.

Has any thought about the disabled fans in the LH been considered?

For those who wish to stop the current plans to evict existing Block E season ticket holders, there is a change.org petition rapidly gathering momentum.

Good luck with that one !

I get the impression that the club will stick to their current position akin to chewing gum on a high heel, patently refusing to yield one solid imperial inch to those who criticise their decision.

I think you’ve missed my point, which is that HF are also loyal and are not Premier League glory hunters (as many think they are). Think 2010 protests outside Barclays to help save the club.

No one disputes that it’s unfair on the people in block E. The popular opinion appears to be that the decision to create the singing section for the greater good. Also, everybody hopes they are well compensated for their inconvenience.

All hf had to do was put in place plans with parish to take the spot they wanted once stadium had been increased in two years time- parish could’ve offered existing central seating fans a main stand sweetener perhaps. But no, they ran before they walked. We love them here and they create electric atmosphere but this is at the end of the day, out of order in the way they dealt with this.

What greater good????????????

Our reputation as a FAMILY club is now shot to pieces and we are becoming just a joke to opposition fans. We are going to become just another marketing tool for overseas viewers and sod the loyal fans.

One poster extols the virtue of American sports and all that jazz. If that is what you want for Palace then good luck but don't forget that in the USA you can wake up one morning and find your favourite sports team has suddenly been moved to another location often thousands of miles away. Ask any old fan of the famous New York Dodgers baseball team.

You are very probably right but anything is worth a try and it doesn't take that much effort to sign a petition.

At worst it might well surprise Mr Parish at the bitterness and serious opposition his clumsy and ill-thought-out decision has created.

What popular opinion? Where? HF or CPFC PR? BBC? Sky? BBS? i could go on. Have you asked anyone who is going to lose out from Block E? There are posts on here to explain the rubbish they've been offered.

Btw, there were far more honest, loyal, long standing fans outside Lloyds & on the march than the 'so-called' HF.
