Okay so just had a chat with my Wolves season ticket holder cousin (who actually lives in South Norwood) and is quite connected to what goes on at Wolves.

Firstly Nuno was sacked as opposed to a mutual agreement. He was actually told before the penultimate game of the season away to Everton but both parties agreed for him to stay on for the Manchester United game at Molineux so he could say goodbye to the fans and players give him a guard of honour which took place after the game.

Without doubt he had created the best managerial bonding with the fans in a generation, hence their famous Nuno had a Dream song. So with this in mind and through fear of backlash it also suited Fosun for it to be a mutual departure.

Regarding Fosun, they actually own part of Gestifute, which is the agency spearheaded by Jorge Mendes. This is the reason why so many clubs complained to the FA when Fosun bought Wolves because of the agent-club relationship rule. And win Wolves won the championship at a canter with Champions League players like Jota, Neves, Boly it only highlighted the issue.

Tottenham Newcastle and Leicester also complained to the Premier League when Wolves came up and finished seventh in their first season, and was the highest finish for a promoted club in like 15 years. However once again the Premier League were satisfied no rules were broken due the Ultimate decision having to be made by the player as to what club he chooses to join, however we can all safely say those players would never have joined Wolves in the championship without Mendes being involved.

Therefore sadly with or without Nuno it would appear Wolves would still get the pick of the Portuguese youngsters, again highlighted by the fact they have just signed two 18 year-old kids on the brink of the national first team from Benfica. Or it could be due to the fact that Bruno Lage has just been appointed, another client of Gestifute and long standing friend of Mendes.

Lage also nurtured and developed players like Ruben Diaz and Joao Felix who have been sold for a combined £200 million recently and arguably the best defender and central midfielder in Europe based on last season.

However I’ve saved the best until last, both Nuno and Mendes were each other’s best man at their respective weddings, meaning whilst he must remain with some kind of loyalty to his own livelihood, business and strong relationship with the Fosun Conglomerate who are worth in excess of £80 billion, surely he will also look out for his best mate of some 30 years and Godfather to Nuno’s son?

The relationship between Nuno and Fosun broke down simply because the Wolves fans were coming very disheartened at the ultra defensive first approach, as we saw when they played us at Selhurst recently. Also let’s not forget Nuno is Mourinho’s prodigy, and have similar egos. Also Fabio Silva Was 100% a Nuno signing along with Barcelona’s previous First choice right back Semedo. Both of which cost a combined £70 million and have failed to live up to expectations, leaving both the fans and Fosun disgruntled.

Finally Nuno’s family do still remain in Portugal and blamed on his exit from Wolves, his son Studies at Manchester University
still and live together in Staffordshire. Nuno used to catch the Saturday or Sunday evening flight out of Birmingham into Porto every fortnight following any game any Molineux and return 48 hours later in order to see his family back in Porto.

The General consensus is he will be sorely missed at Wolves, not just because of his unique interaction with fans as we saw at Selhurst following them beating us shortly after coming up, but by the bond he created with his players who would run through brick walls for him. This was demonstrated by Neves and Coady’s interview After the United game during which you could clearly see they were both holding back a tear or two.

The thing is Dazza, your source may have been right at the time. But things change. There's every chance that we were teeing up Lampard, agreed to meet once he returned from holiday...before Nuno had become available. But things change. Nuno became available. Parish chatted to him. He was impressed. And decided on Nuno. Sorry Frank. So it now looks like you were wrong, but actually at the time of posting, you weren't.
