Agree the pitch didn't look as green as normal, and doesn't appear to be wearing as well this season.

The pitch is the same one that most Prem teams have, so pretty sure there is nothing questionable going on.

Might just be the lack of sun and heavy rain we've had over the last few months.

Some clubs use UV lighting, not sure if Palace do likewise.

We do, tho not sure if they are UV or an 'infra-red' type lamps. you can see them out in the car park most days(or you used to be able to).

A few comments regarding the pitch last night and this morning from various pundits saying the pitch was 'difficult' for Man City .

Did look a bit sandy in parts but does anyone know if it is indeed having problems or is it just excusues ?

At the end of the day its our home pitch and we can prepare it how we like

I have worked maintaining golf courses all my life so the pitch is one of the first things I observe and I too could see how much it had deteriorated since the Burnley match. I don’t know for sure but the first thing I thought was that there was leatherjacket damage, it’s the eggs that hatch from crane flies. The grubs eat the roots causing bare and damaged turf. The insecticide that used to control this got discontinued about 3 years ago and football pitches weren’t granted a licence for the new insecticide that was brought onto the market which isn’t as good as the older product anyway. Madness in my eyes that with all the money in football the pitches are in danger of going back to the old days. I feel so much for the groundsmen but it isn’t there fault. I could go on and bore you further but just my thoughts.

Interesting comments from someone "in the trade" so to speak.

I recall the so called 'Plastics pitches' of yesteryear. They were not universally welcomed and I recall reading "Plastic pitches should be put out to grass".

Pep wasn't referring to the pitch when he mentioned the grass. He was referring to the clubs dealer.

There is a Chinese breed of dog called a 'Chow Chow'. If I see 'Chow Chow Mein' on the menu I shall give the dish a wide berth.

Testicles are a delicacy in many countries. In the American mid west bulls testicles are on the menu as Rocky Mountain Oysters and Couilles de mouton are considered a delicacy in France
