Haha, yeah it's both gross but partially understandable at the same time . File under 'what you don't know doesn't hurt you' lol.

If those were the good times, I'd like to hear about the bad times. ^^^

Tend to look at online reviews first, then visit the premises and see the current hygiene rating. Delivery isn't an option out in the sticks, but you get a good vibe going to collect when you see the place is busy.
We used to have delivery in London, but we always checked the place out beforehand. And when expected delivery times were an hour, we often had our food delivered much earlier because we always tipped the scooter rider a few quid.

Visited a Turkish kebab place on one occasion, to find the bloke behind the till watching a p-orn film. Didn't get any food there,...ever.

I hate people handling my food and like the fact that when I go in to a takeaway to personally order it's piping hot, and I am not waiting around for some driver to turn up, deliveries must be a good earner for takeaways?

dont trust the delivery people.
common for them to 'tax' the food.

was waiting in a curry house in brighton to collect takeaway, delivery driver comes in, collects bag to go.
watched him sit in his car with bag on lap & rifle through it.
then starts dropping fistfulls of rice into his mouth.
saw a uber delivery bike stop outside my old gaff in croydon.
same thing..had a dig about , removed a few itemss, ate em and wrapped up again, went on way.

Yep, there was a documentary a couple of years ago (Panorama possibly). It exposed all that sort of thing. Plus the 'dark' restaurants (I can't remember the actual name) run by the delivery firms, to where the preparing and 'cooking' (if you are lucky, in some cases) of the food is sub-contracted. Let's just say the hygiene standards in those places left a lot to be desired!

Do prefer a relationship with my takeaway cookers.

The thought is usually better than the reality...

Home cooked grub is the best, but takeaway is plan B when can't be arsed.

I do love a lamb donor wrap (much better that a pita) but whatever they pump into that hunk of meat gives me sleepless nights. Same misery following a Chinese, so given up on that.

Curry is better in the restaurant than it is at home. A five guys burger doesn't travel well either.

Ironically these delivery services were launched and marketed at local restaurants that did not provide a takeaway service e.g. your local lovely Italian bistro.

It meant that these quality restaurants could provide a takeaway service without overheads or financial risk.

Of course it quickly became a vehicle for the existing takeaway delivery franchises to sack their staff and outsource the moped man.

I've heard of canine donors before, so nothing surprises me these days.

Try a Big Smack from Smacks. Maybe the best burger you’ll eat. Tastes like a Big Mac but with real food. 4 patties with cheese, gherkins you can’t see and burger sauce you can barely see. Really really good quality. The lemon and pepper chicken wings are supposed to be really good too.

They have shops in fortneef, beddington Lane and tooting I think.

They were good times but just don't happen anymore! Mind you the guy who ran our local chippy back in the early 90s drank in the social club I drink in.

When I was about 18 we went on a minibus to a days racing at Fontwell. Obviously we all got smashed. Dennis (who owned the chippy) got back, stuck the fryers on in the shop and then fell asleep out the back and burnt his own shop down....

I've always got a takeaway after a night out since then!!

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!
