Every summer there is speculation, and Wilf never does a thing to scotch any rumours. It is easy to get the impression that him and his entourage are always fishing for a better deal. Time to move on. It will be interesting to see if he gets a starting berth wherever he goes. And whether the new fans will put up with the 1 in 4 decent performances.

Wilf out - Rak Sakyi in!!!

Time to let him go. He's been a fantastic servant to the club, but his time is up. By not signing a new contract I would imagine that he wants to go. We have shown over the past 3 games that there is life in Palace without him.

I’m somewhat instinctively adverse to these sentiments however feel there is a lot of value and sense in them.

I certainly think we’re seeing that life can continue without Wilf, and will hopefully revolve around Guehi, Andersen, Olise, Ebz, Johnstone and others.

I’ll be extremely sad to see him go and whatever happens hope it ends well and he moves on to something/somewhere beneficial to him.

Wilf has been our greatest player for the past decade plus, will go down in palace history and will always be in fans’ hearts I’m sure.

Sincere fear of letting go however the old sentiment of it being ‘nothing to fear and probably for the best’ is most likely true.

The pride of South London indeed.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

It will be interesting to see how Wilf reacts if he ends up on the bench after his return from injury.

I still say Newcastle is his most obvious destination.

He wants to win trophies well that rules out Spurs who are serial trophy dodgers, I don't think Arsenal or Liverpool need him and Chelsea are a basket case.

Anyone else in the PL is a sideways move.

Unless someone like PSG comes in for him I don't see him leaving the UK he is settled.

Probably why he will go there then. He may even get the odd start, but as with any top club he will spend most of his time riding the pine on the bench.

As much as I have liked Zaha, we have shown in the last three games how much better balanced we are without him.

Over the last two and a half games we have dispelled the myth that we cannot win without him. Ebs has been reborn and players look happy again. There is life after him.

We have to be a team, not a wilf show... it's kind of like Ronaldo at United. Look at them without him, instead of trying to set him up, they play to their strength...

I feel the same for wilf.. either he plays to our strengths or we move on - he doesn't do enough and let's be fair, he has one maybe two seasons left before he starts on the bench.

I thought we weren't offering new contracts to over 30 year old players?

That's not correct. Supposedly, we are not offering more than a one year extension to players who have hit 30. I believe that both Schlupp and Ayew have agreed such one year extensions.

A few seasons ago he put in a transfer request, reasoning that he fancied European football and the chance to win something. Parish valued him at round £80m, but there wasn't exactly a queue of interested parties clambering over each other to get to Parish's office. Media stories of interest from Arsenal, and maybe Everton.
Fast forward to the present day and the soon-to-be expiration of Zaha's contract and he will be a free agent to do what he likes. If he has a decent agent one would have thought that the agent would have already done the groundwork for Zaha's impending move.
I can't see the club breaking its one year extension ruling, and I don't think the club is interested in paying £130k pw for a player who is now starting to show the inevitable signs of wear and tear and the odd one in five decent performance.
A Palace great, but all things come to an end.

Quite frankly, if Wilf wrangles a deal anywhere near £200k a week and/or at a Champions League club, it will be the business move of the century.

Unless he comes back for the last 5 games and scores 10+ goals I can’t see a team willing to offer that amount for a player who’s main asset has always been beating opponents, using his pace and creating attacking opportunities but can no longer or very rarely does this anywhere close to the extent he used to.

He is, for me being relatively young, the greatest palace player of my lifetime therefore possibly ever, there’s no room for any further discussion or explanation in my mind. Had he left 2+ years ago I’d of been very gutted, we’d probably have been relegated however I’d of understood. For me that opportunity has passed now and his best days are long behind him.

I strongly suspect, if he does move, it won’t be a fairytale ending, far from in fact. If he does stay he’ll have to settle for what is offered but quite frankly I think we may be better off moving on, sad as it is to say. I hope whatever happens Wilf attains a favourable result for himself and of course it doesn’t affect the team. I fear him staying could be more detrimental however.

would it? Lingard got £200k a week out of Notts Forest.
Any 'new' team in the Champions league e.g. Arsenal and Newcastle, will need reinforcements and so say a 2 year deal would suit both parties.

Don't forget we signed Max Meyer on a massive 3 year deal based on a few video clips as i suspect we had never seen him play live.
Wilf is a much lower risk signing.

I agree with the no fairytale ending though!
