According to this click-bait, Wilf has a choice between us & Fernerbahce. They are only in the Thurs night Europa League for next season . . . [Link]

The 'top' teams are not exactly breaking down his door, considering he's a free agent.

I think they all know we’ve had his best years now

Single-handedly got us promoted? We had a squad full of heroes that season, including Murray who banged in 30 goals.

Also bizarre that the only other person you've namechecked as being 'the only reason we've stayed in the league' is Pulis? I mean he did well before trying to screw us over but really? Even if you're just talking managers I think Roy, Big Sam and Vieira have all played a massive part.

The notion that any disloyalty has been shown to Zaha is baffling. He's the best paid player in our history and has been beloved by our fanbase despite trying to engineer an exit during most summer transfer windows in recent years, including chucking in a transfer request about 2 days before one season started. And we've still offered him a huge contract that will take him well past his best on enormous money.

If he goes, he goes and he'll always be, arguably, our best ever players. If he stays then great, hopefully lots more magic moments to come. But the current limbo is an absolute nonsense, needs to end ASAP and it's not disrespectful to say so.

Across the season but I'm talking about the play offs, take wilf out and there's no chance we would have won them and it was in response to the poster saying he left us half way through the season.

He kept us up with probably one of the worst squads in the history of the prem, obviously the others have contributed but they all had the luxury of a well invested squad with prem experience.

Over the last 10 seasons, outside the top 6, zaha and vardy have consistently been by far the most influential and best players in the league, he deserves the figures when compared to other players in the league. Obviously his always had ambition of playing at the highest level, the main reason he hasn't got that move is the contracts his signed have put the club in such a strong position that they wouldn't even consider any offer that wasn't anywhere near what they value him to our club. We all know if a player really wants to leave a club there's no way the club are stopping him.

Quite clearly his not got the offers he was expecting and weighing up lazio or fenerbache for half the money but a couple of games in Europe vs staying and being on 200k or waiting around and seeing If any better offers come in and who can blame him. If he signs for West ham or Everton then fair enough but if any player deserves our club bending backwards for them then its wilf.

In the grand scheme of things he's not as good as many Palace fans think he is, certainly on the European stage I think he would struggle to impress. The fact that no PL club came in, even when he wanted off previously and was arguably at the height of his powers, is rather telling.

Certainly he is not as good as some might think, and it wouldn’t seem others are falling over themselves for him.
But as of the end of last season he was still one of our best players, and possibly the most effective in opening defences and actually scoring.
Not easy to replace whether we like it or not. The mistake we make is to think the players top priority is the club, the reality is it’s a job , which the club and punters hope gets done to the best of any players ability, Wilf has on the whole done that with nobs on. Right now he is out of work with a choice of where to work, I just hope the club know exactly where they stand with him and resolve it in the clubs favour according to whatever Wilf is going to do.

I think he is still capable of changing a game at any level. In my opinion the reason why he didn’t succeed at the top level or is unlikely to be given an opportunity to in the future, is because he is not considered consistent enough. I’m not sure teams are willing to pay top dollar (especially now), for someone who they probably see as pretty much a dynamic substitute and we know Wilf would hate that role anyway.

The more I think about it, the more I think Palace is his best option for playing regular first 11 football in an environment that suits him.

Fact is we have no idea whats happening behind closed doors and no one on the board knows any different. What we do know is neither side would ever share any information while they are negotiating as its just not done like that. Who in their right mind negotiates multi-million pound deals in a public forum. This message board will hear the answers when they are made public. Maybe you're right Lanzo that he would leave if given the right offer...who wouldnt and would you do anything different? Everything is speculation right now...end of :0)

I think it is almost certain he will stay, based on what has been reported and personally I don't think that's a bad thing. I think the contractual terms will be acceptable to us and we can then move forward with a degree of stability. If we also sign Franca, then I think we will start to be a dangerous side, especially if we can sign a decent striker!

In my time watching Palace, Wilf has ranked in the set of players I consider the best I've seen in a Palace shirt. I include Salako, Wright, Bright, Freedman, and Johnstone, Morrison and Armstrong and no forgetting Martyn, and a few others whose skill was not the best but their motivation skills was worth an extra man - Thomas as an example. Wilf thrives at being a big fish in a small pond and that is one reason why he has not ended up at a bigger club - small fish in a big pond is not his temperament. I'd also conjecture that he wants to stay in South London where all his mates, and newly acquired football club are. I know it is normally very unlikely in these circumstances, but I can see him deciding to stay the remaining years of a very successful career, by anyone standards, at CP. Lets see! If he choses to move on, then I'd be the first to wish him well and thanks for all the glorious moments. Let's be honest, he kept up is the top flight in more than one season.

At the end of the day Olise had 11 assists last season, Wilf has had 9 in the last four seasons, and has never bettered 11, they are the stats, he is a busted flush now and a 3/4 year contract on a similar salary is ridiculous in all aspects of the signing. and i think a disaster for the morale of the players that are better than him, and their are many, on much lower salaries.

Have a day off Lanzo. There is no player we will sign that gets ahead of him.
