Team news

Crystal Palace midfielder Nick Carle is suspended for this match after his red card against Birmingham City in midweek.

The Eagles have seen their squad hit by a string of hamstring injuries. Winger Victor Moses, defender Claude Davis, midfielder Shaun Derry and winger Paul Ifill are all sidelined with the problem.

Watford keeper Mart Poom sits the match out with a shoulder problem, while Gareth Williams has a knee injury.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"They are flying at the minute and are probably the bookies favourite for the match. We have to compete with them and have to play better than we did last month. We deserved to lose that game."

Brendan Rodgers

"We have got Crystal Palace in our next home game where we have been brilliant at home with the supporters and then Plymouth in the week.

"So in the next couple of weeks we have great possibilities and from being in the bottom three we could be flying upwards and that was always the aim.

"The crowd [at Vicarage Road] have responded fantastically well, the staff have been great so the project between now and the end of the season is to keep moving up."
