Team news

New loan striker Anthony Stokes could make his debut for the Eagles after the 20-year-old joined from Sunderland on Monday.

Nick Carle is still suspended after his red card last week and boss Neil Warnock hopes Shaun Derry, Claude Davis, Victor Moses have recovered from hamstring injuries.

Wolves midfielder David Jones is missing due to a knee problem. Stephen Ward (knee), Matt Jarvis (infected blister) and Nigel Quashie (chest infection) are doubts.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"Unless we get one or two loan players in and it's difficult in the climate to get players in, so we have to muck on with what we have. The kids are trying hard but it is not an easy period for kids as well.

"I must admit I would like one or two players in the side in the next week if I can from the injured lads just to give us a little bit more backbone.

"We have got round pegs at the moment in square holes. I can't fault the players effort but the quality was lacking.

"They are trying their best and it is up to us to try and get one or two players back and try putting the pegs that we want in the team."

Mick McCarthy

"I am surprised that we are still top and that no one has gone above us as yet. Current form doesn't suggest it but I still think we can put a run together, we've already done it twice this season.

"Palace is no easy place to play but we've got to go there and do it. Forget about any pressure, where's the pressure? Let's just go and play.

"There haven't been any demands on the players to do anything differently, let's just go and play. It might be good to have another game so soon, let's get them played.

"Tuesday-Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday - whatever comes now we've just got to be ready for them and play better than we did on Saturday."
