What you are describing is a mobster not president of the USA you do need judgement in political life and luck but it will run out?

Hanging on to his tax returns seems like he is bringing it all on himself.

The press though correct and then apologise if they make a mistake. We all make mistakes. Spinning a story is not the same as telling outright lies, which is what Trump and his team have blatantly done and did again yesterday. Trump tweets aggressive criticism of the security services one week and then blames the press for reporting what he said the next, calling the press even worst names than he called the security services. The man is an idiot, who is a confidence trickster at best, and a dangerous megalomaniac at worst. It is appalling that he managed to fool so many Americans and really puzzling that anyone from the UK cannot see past his very obvious unsuitability for high office. As a reality TV host, or circus ringmaster, he has some merit. He is amusing in a distasteful kind of way. As a President he is a cruel joke. The USA has just given up it's position on the world stage and now we await the outcome. Who fills the vacuum is the dangerous part and will they be challenged?

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

Both need to be held accountable. To me, that starts with the highest authority, taking the high ground and just pointing out the facts. Same as journalists who don't fact check, should be held accountable by their editors.

We're now in a situation where people bandy around phrases like 'alt facts' 'Post-truth', when what they mean are 'we're lying b****** scum who regard you the people as f**king idiots'.

Democracy cannot survive when the public can have no confidence in the sources of its information. And that has to start with its leaders, and the fourth estate.

The Trump administration seem to be lying a lot. But I suppose the justification will be 'oh they all do it'. That doesn't somehow make it right though does it. I can see America becoming a laughing stock if such blatant bulls***ting continues

The furore over the inauguration numbers (both spectators and viewing figures) is worrying.

It really doesn't matter how many came and saw his inauguration. It shouldn't make any difference to him.

It is easily explainable (poor weather conditions, his supporter bases are further away from DC, the financial problems his supporters face as a result of the Obama administration poor management of the economy mean money is too tight). But to get his spokesperson to lie about it in ways which are so easily disproveable is just odd.

And it discredits him. I'm sure some of his core supporters will lap it up. And refuse to believe photographic evidence or officially produced stats. But the majority of Americans won't. And the majority of the Houses won't and will start to distance themselves.

He's just a bit of a prat because he is so focused on popularity.

I quite liked his proposal for increased import tariffs and duties on US companies that have migrated manufacturing and production outside of the US. It might be a bit late, but admirable, if it actually happens (especially if they apply it retrospectively to companies that claim to be American, but have effectively offshored everything).
