This position needs addressing urgently . It’s almost every week
It’s mentioned. In the meantime should we utilise our quickest defender there ?
Richards?? I think if he was playing last night we might have got a deserved point

Ward needs to be dropped, championship at best. However as long as Hodgson is in charge this will not happen. Richards is really the only choice as Clyne is on a par.
The board are to blame should have brought in a younger better player.

Rb, Lb and striker are stopping us from pushing on a bit I think.
Ward too slow, Mitchell just useless, Mateta one of the worst strikers Ive ever seen, Edouard technically decent but everything else useless, Clyne worse than Ward but quicker.
I think those players mentioned would only be average in the Championship too, why they haven't been upgraded in all this time is a mystery.

Richards isn't a right back, he showed that last season especially at wolves

It's been plainly obvious for the last few years and what do the board do, spend 20 million on a keeper, they replace our best player and talisman with a 19 year old from the other side of the world and because they can't be bothered finding a manager they just give Roy another year, we lack ambition. Next year we will lose eze, guehi, Andersen. We will end up like Leicester, Southampton tho that will probably suit the board as when we're back in the championship it'll give them another excuse to postpone the stadium redevelopment.

I've watched him play there for the USA a couple of times. He didn't seem too bad - and no worse than what we have currently. Really, he should be coached more in that role as he has more pace than the other two. That full backs/wing backs require pace is obvious, yet we don't seem to see it. Look at the wide players they come up against.

I know he is slow but Holding might be a slightly better option.

I have always thought that Schlups best position is left back even when PVA was here

I agree play Richards - Ward is woeful and has been for a long while now.

More worryingly and infuriatingly - why is he Captain - having your worst player as Captain provides no motivation or inspiration - to the point it must be somewhat demoralising..!!

Make Guehi Captain - at least he can/would lead by example and be someone to look up to - neither of those things can be said/provided by Ward,,!!

I thought he played there for Arsenal a few times before he left? Can’t be that woeful.

In any instance, I think there was a general consensus of ‘good’ when AWB came in, as we needed a RB to replace Ward then. Several years later, we’re stuck in the same situation.

Seems bizarre we spent all our money on a player Hodgson obviously does not think a great deal about and a GK who got injured pretty quickly when we obviously needed enforcement elsewhere.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

People say that Richards was rubbish there last season. How often did he play there? Once? Twice?

What we know for sure is that Ward already isn't good enough for that position. I'd rather give Richards a few games and give him a chance to get used to it, than just write him off based on a ridiculously small sample size.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...
