I know the first game is Jan 9th but does anyone know if Norwich or West Spam is their last game.

I see Ian Wright is moaning about the lack of respect for AFCON the implication being it's racist.

It probably isn't Ian, AFCON is the only tournament that takes place in the middle of the European season which is why clubs, managers and fans get fed up.

FIFA needs to sort this out whatever happened to the so called Global Calendar? I get that January is a good time for Africa due to the temperatures so why not have the rest of football play international qualifying games and friendlies then we can get back to what most of us care about.

Exactly, they shouldn't be released for this in the middle of a season. It would get a much bigger audience if it were done in the summer, in the years the World Cup or European Cup aren't on, i.e odd years. We'd probably all watch it then, and it would get respect. As it is, I find it an annoyance. Take Zaha, he's now getting a few hundred grand from us but won't play for several weeks. Funny how my job, and everyone else's, doesn't work like that.

Yeah, he doesn’t half spout some b*llocks. If top players were disappearing half way through the season to play in Oceania or whatever, people would be asking the same questions.

The problem is playing in Africa in those temperatures could be dangerous for players and spectators. The answer is to block off a January window when no club football is played.

This year how many times did England internationals disrupt the PL was it 3 times? Why not just have the WC or EC qualifying games played at the same time as AFCON then everybody's happy.

Afcon affects clubs from the top down. High end PL clubs have more african players so the more missing shows the stature of the club and how far African football has come in say 20 years. Its brilliant tbh and This must even it out. Not sure how many from each club unless some one can post the numbers.

I think most other European leagues have a winter break in January or at least just play cup games which is minor fodder to most .
Its probably only the Premier that is moaning about it

And we still need a striker
