A 65 mil transfer kitty is not to be sniffed at in the
current climate - we could get Lundstrom for nothing, spend 25 on Brooks, that's 40 mil left to replace PVA, we only need one more central defender, if Ferguson is not another Wickham we might not need another right back, Clyne can play on either side if we decide to re-sign him, we might not need to spend a penny to get some of the players we need, and we'd still have enough to splash out where we need to. The AWB money went on debt and wages, be interesting to see how many won't be getting their contracts renewed on the basis that Parrish doesn't want to make the same mistake twice, i.e. not maintaining the squad and reinvesting when it was necessary.

Is Lundstram really an upgrade on what we've got? Don't see a need to spend money replacing PvA. MItchell's already replaced him as far as defensive needs go and Hannam won't be far behind IMO. We still have Riedewald in reserve for that role. As for CBs, I suggest we'll need 2 younger ones given how injury prone our defensive Dad's army is and we need a dynamic attack-minded midfielder who can move forward with the ball. I agree that Brooks would be a good option if we can get him at a reasonable price.

Spurs don’t have have the oldest squad in the league with half the team out of contract. Spurs as one of the top 6 can take their pick of managers to a great extent.

I don’t think it’s a relevant comparison.

Parish has known for months before the season ended that he needed a new manager....plenty of time to carry out weeks of due diligence on the options.

By delaying we now have competition from a number of other clubs.

Personally I'd say spurs are at a major crossroads of their own. They have slipped out of champions league reckoning at a time they possibly hoped they would be title challengers. Thier best player wants to leave, the long time backbone of the side is getting past it and needs replacing, their fans booed them off the pitch at the first opportunity. Appointing a new manager months ago could have addressed a lot of that, but they kept their powder dry and now seem to be about to benefit from that.

Hopefully we will too.

Perhaps Neco Williams and Daniel James.
We have been lacking down the right side.
Jason Knight of Derby has his admirers.

Having invested in a Cat 1 academy then we need a manager who is not afraid to promote youth and give them the confidence. Frank Lampard is the obvious choice to change our aging squad

The thing that baffles me is that it doesn’t appear that we’ve even been in contact with Ismaël. I appreciate they’ve kept the whole thing under wraps quite well. But it would seem if it’s not Nuno, we’ll be going down the route of Cooper. I would hope at the very least we bring Ismaël in for a talk.

It’s all very well Palace, keeping things under wraps. But not a peep out of Swansea, Barnsley, or Burnley. Surely if Palace, were actively advanced in pursuing any of their managers they would not be slow in making some comment even if it was only sod off . One or two reports claiming to know how much compensation might be involved , almost certainly guess work.
It seems strange all three clubs can’t even be bothered to comment.when it’s so commonly reported we are about to Nick their managers.

Its a good point. I don't know how these things work but perhaps Swansea and Barnsley are being discreet about having allowed us to talk to their managers so that they don't lose any face or have to deal with any drama if we don't ultimately want to employ Cooper or Ishmael, and one or both ends up staying put.

EFL now reporting Cooper is 3rd or 4th choice (Nuno 1st).

But then again who really knows - it’s been kept so tightly under wraps it, could simply be just another hacks opinion!

In fairness, the Barnsley hierarchy have released this in recent days: [Link]

That's true - it wouldn't at all be motivating for the players next season if they know their manager is only there because he failed the interview process at a 'bigger' club.
