If there is any money I'd guess it comes from what we will save not paying several large salaries once Sakho et al move on, but also from us not having any more chunks of previous transfer fees to pay off. I believe we were paying for Sakho, Benteke and others in instalments over the course of their contracts with us.

In addition, I think the FFP regs do allow a certain amount of debt spread over a period of time (though they are not written so as to be a simple sum, more a matter of making a business case in favour of the debt). It might be that Palace will be able to justify £60m of spending now on building the core that will see us through for the next three or four years, and that subsequent windows will be very low spending in comparison (this is certainly what we did before). It's a kind of frontloading.

Or of course, it's all bollocks and we're as skint as ever.

FFP cycles are calculated in blocks of 3 years every year and I remember reading that our restrictions ease this summer. Or it’s a false rumour that we’re going to spend more.

Even if Clinton is right and we've got £65m to spend (presumably without Zaha being sold), it's not a lot of money in this league.

That much could add up to three Eze-standard players (of varying positions) and a Tomkins/Koyate standard good value player. That kind of summer would be brilliant, but as ever we would need every single new signing to perform (so no Sorloths, Meyers etc), would still need two loans, and would still have space for at least one youth player to step up.

65m is a lot of money the market has changed not sure how you think it is not (we are not a top team)

I don't believe it anyway.

All teams use the loan system this is a positive thing to have and it is not restricted to only 2 of them.

You need to give players a chance and time the names you mentioned never really had that which is another positive why it's good Roy has gone others who have not really had much of a chance may well get it now.

It's a lot of money in the real world, but it won't get you many good Premier league players, even now, and we need half a dozen. It's not impossible, but it's certainly not the sort of money that'll transform the team, even if the figures are true.

Loans are fine, but every one you use reduces the overall value of your squad whilst increasing the value of someone else's (presuming the player does well). Given one of our problems is the lack of sellable value in the squad, I'd say loans are a necessary evil at best.

We'll perhaps agree to disagree about Sorloth and Meyer. I think they were given plenty of chances but were crap. Happy for either to prove otherwise but it hasn't happened yet.

Lampard should be our first choice ; is it going to p*** off Chelsea fans? Yes. Then it's a no brainer

A 65 mil transfer kitty is not to be sniffed at in the
current climate - we could get Lundstrom for nothing, spend 25 on Brooks, that's 40 mil left to replace PVA, we only need one more central defender, if Ferguson is not another Wickham we might not need another right back, Clyne can play on either side if we decide to re-sign him, we might not need to spend a penny to get some of the players we need, and we'd still have enough to splash out where we need to. The AWB money went on debt and wages, be interesting to see how many won't be getting their contracts renewed on the basis that Parrish doesn't want to make the same mistake twice, i.e. not maintaining the squad and reinvesting when it was necessary.

Real Madrid appointed Ancelloti to replace Zinedine Zidane who also left last week.

Wolves are about to appoint Bruno Lage to replace Nuno Espirito Santo who left less than a week ago

Palace who had a couple of months (at least) notice that they would need to replace Roy Hodgson have allegedly interviewed half a dozen people several times and still don't seem to have a scooby who to appoint.

Indecisive or what?

Spurs still looking for a manager, after Jose left months ago. There is no rush just to satisfy fans, i would rather Parish gets the right man by doing due diligence on all options

Wouldn't disagree with what you say, but the players you list won't change us from a lower mid table side into something else. It could quite easily take £65m just to keep the side as good as it has generally been in recent years - i.e one that doesn't fight relegation to the last week of the season every year.

Don't forget, we spent about £55m on Sakho and Benteke alone. It doesn't go far.

I completely agree. Plus the candidates available as last season wore on were only those already out of work. By waiting the club has opened its options considerably.

Spurs don’t have have the oldest squad in the league with half the team out of contract. Spurs as one of the top 6 can take their pick of managers to a great extent.

I don’t think it’s a relevant comparison.

Parish has known for months before the season ended that he needed a new manager....plenty of time to carry out weeks of due diligence on the options.

By delaying we now have competition from a number of other clubs.

The thing that baffles me is that it doesn’t appear that we’ve even been in contact with Ismaël. I appreciate they’ve kept the whole thing under wraps quite well. But it would seem if it’s not Nuno, we’ll be going down the route of Cooper. I would hope at the very least we bring Ismaël in for a talk.

We're the Arthur over ere!
