I voted remain, having said that, I do understand the concerns that the leavers had/have. This is the problem with the politics we have; It's a system that is too old that does not keep up with the times. I hate voting for parties, because, it eventually pisses off 50% of the population. I would prefer a system where the population can vote on policies rather than a board of politicians to carry out whatever they want or something along those lines. Yep, the political system is out of date.....not that I've given its replacement anything over than about five minutes thinking. When societies create power bases....and our political elites are at the top of the power base tree.....those bases never willingly give away those positions for free. Turkeys don't vote for Christmas. People don't get what they deserve, they get what they negotiate.....and if one party doesn't want to negotiate the conservation is ending pretty quickly. That the 19th Century isn't the distant past. Well, it's certainly not the same society. So someone would have to be careful when they made like for like comparisons. Comparing societies only really works if they are broadly similar and have the same variables. If someone was doing it in recognition of the differences and accurately stating them then no doubt it could be done with those caveats.

What do you think? ..and of course rise in crime also has nothing to do with the increasingly liberal child raising ideas that they must all be allowed to express themselves, they must never be smacked to enforce any sort of discipline, and punishment is unacceptable so you have to 're-educate' them - and gently at that, so they don't feel isolated or victimized or any of the other trendy, touchy-feely, social expressions. Result - a bunch of feral people, with big knives and guns who just laugh at law and order and the system because they no there is no real punishment or deterrent.

Who really knows. Equally physical punishment could also have resulted in more respect, but also created anger management issues at a later age that increased the likelihood of domestic abuse or emotional instability. Plus, I'm not sure that the parents of these rares (or parent, or no parent, more to the point) are really thinking about liberal values and disciplining their children. I think that's more likely to be the real reason. Plenty of middle class well to dos adopt the 'touchy feely' approach these days and I don't see them running around with knives gutting each other.
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

Oddbins has gone bust today and one of the reasons they gave was poor sales due to the uncertainty over Brexit. Fancy a bottle of wine with dinner tonight? No thanks as I'm too worried about Brexit

Anyway for some good news I'm not sure that is good news. If EU citizens will be able to make short-term visits to the UK without a visa after Brexit takes place on 29 March......how is that stopping certain people with 'EU' citizenship coming into the country and then 'disappearing'?
