Oddbins has gone bust today and one of the reasons they gave was poor sales due to the uncertainty over Brexit.

Fancy a bottle of wine with dinner tonight? No thanks as I'm too worried about Brexit

I only get pissed because I'm not worried about Brexit.

Hic!

All those tea drinking remainers fretting over their rich tea.

I'm not sure that is good news.

If EU citizens will be able to make short-term visits to the UK without a visa after Brexit takes place on 29 March......how is that stopping certain people with 'EU' citizenship coming into the country and then 'disappearing'?

Not free movement as you would have to hop over the channel after your 90 days for a day then re-enter, but near enough.

And vice-versa of course it is reciprocal.

That's not really addressing what I said Steely.

I'm not concerned about people who obey the rules.

I also thought the same thing. Seems pretty much identical to the system in place now so if you voted on the controlled immigration ticket...

We lost that race. China is ahead of everyone when it comes to AI. And the gap is only growing, despite the best efforts of the west.

I'd have to disagree with that assumption. Of course they're also up there but not ahead...they're not so much a nation of innovators, just copiers.

Pound for pound we punch well above our weight in AI, so much so that you can only compare us with the largest economy in world as a comparison.

However if you were talking industrial and corporate espionage (just look at the latest Huwaei stuff) then clearly i'd happily agree.

It is not freedom of movement but visa free travel, which is completely different. Although no visa required people will still need to satisfy Immigration Officers of their intentions eg US nationals are questioned on arrival, Latvians are not. After Brexit both will be questioned. There is a difference

Only if you satisfy Immigration on arrival, see my previous reply to Stirlingsray. Non-EU nationals do the "hopping" now, if Border Force do not believe they would be acceptable back from whence they came (ie they claim to be visitors but are actually living/working there) or are not satisfied of their intentions in the UK, they can be refused entry

Like I said, I'm not really concerned about people who obey the rules.

If someone wants to come to the UK from Europe using an 'EU' passport.....they can....and they can disappear into the country when it's time to go.

No it isn't. See my previous replies. They will have to provide certain information on arrival

Would that be the same Oddbins that went bust in 2011?

I suspect a poor business model is a bigger factor than Brexit.

Highly unlikely that you would have more than checked at all, as is the case now, and why.

If there is a reason then police here or abroad will question you, or whatever, just as it is now.

There is no discernible change here from being in the EU or not a member.
