Nothing for a few days while cowardly Corbyn strokes the dried food in his facial hair. Protest politics until he’s gone.

So Labour now plan to block a December election, and getting the deal through looks like a tough ask too. A few months more of drifting along aimlessly then.

Much as I don't want any referendums I don't think that is actually true. It won't stop people believing that to either leave or remain in the EU is best for us. What it would solve is knowing how many people still want to leave now we have had 3 years of experience of just how complex and difficult it is to untangle a Union. Knowing that might enable a compromise solution which sees us leaving, but in a way that everyone can live with. Make it strictly advisory, a consultation only, with it clearly understood that Parliament will take the final decision about how to interpret the information. As this Union has lasted just 40 years imagine the problems if Scotland ever did decide to separate. So because untangling it is difficult; it should be stopped.

It's more the reality of the known. The point is that as everyone can now see how difficult it is that some may now feel it just isn't worth it. Not you no doubt, nor those who voted to remain and haven't changed their minds, but possibly enough to make a difference. When a decision was on such a knife edge already it doesn't take a lot to swing the balance the other way.

For "block a December election" read "stop a no deal Brexit". For "drifting aimlessly along" read "playing the longer game". From the analysis I just heard stopping a no deal Brexit is impossible unless Article 50 is revoked, which Johnson won't do, so what Corbyn is asking for cannot be delivered. His word won't be enough. He isn't trusted.

How exactly do you KNOW the reality, it hasnt happened yet and is looking likely that it will not happen....from my point of view I wish it was cancelled BUT leave won the vote so to cancel it would be the end of democracy in the UK..(if its not already destroyed)....I would prefer to remain for purely selfish reasons.....no one has yet answered what would happen IF leave won another referendum....referendum 3 referendum 4?? Maybe you can tell me, you know the future!! Edited by the silurian (25 Oct 2019 5.59pm)

No surprise there. Anyway to brexit and it can hardly be worse:- Cardiff University survey:- Most Leave voters across all three countries think violence towards MPs is a ‘price worth paying’ for Brexit - 71% in England, 60% in Scotland and 70% in Wales. Shows what sort of a place we are in. Talk to us about the threats of violence by the far-left aimed at MPs who have spoken out about anti-semitism in the Labour Party

Far simpler to revoke article 50 and end the whole sorry episode. As we can see today we will be forever at the EUs beck and call if we leave. An endless trade negotiation dictated to us by the EU. Continued rule from Brussels under EU law. Cancelling costs nothing and preserves our highly undeserved status. The UK had simply taken leave of its senses. Haven't we been for the last 40 years?
