Actually that is an excellent point. I have every sympathy for a student whose parent / loved one has died and universities have well established practices for dealing with cases like this. What worries me is that the lowering of the bar mentality will not help these people when they go to work in the real world. As a former boss I expect people to do the job well in the time required so unless they had a valid excuse like a family bereavement they would not fair well under me.

So on their exam failure it will have an remark saying the candidate was out out protesting. Well that's going to help them.

And how would these locals feel if they had to compete for those jobs with thousands of new arrivals who were prepared to work for lower wages? Wrong question! The real question must surely be why if there are these thousands of new arrivals why they aren't here already? Why do they tend to concentrate in the cities? Perhaps that is because that's where the wealth and opportunities really are. It's the jobs which are missing, not the people.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Boasting that you've never been to jail shows low expectations - 'Of course you shouldn't go to jail!'. If you haven't heard this comedy routine, I strongly recommend it. Says everything about ordinary black people's contempt for the loud mouthed NWAs.

It certainly blindsides the audience.

I mean new arrivals into Cornwall, not necessarily into the country although in 2019 net migration into Britain was 270,000.

You've got to question how someone who is intelligent enough to get into one of the best universities in the world could possibly claim this. Whilst they should have been using the fantastic oportunity they had to study, and improve the future for themselves and their family instead they chose to spend time waving a placard and shouting at a finely carved rock to express how angry they were at his behaviour. Cecil Rhodes has been dead for over 100 years and now Zibabwe is run by a complete tyrant who they probably don't give a s*** about. When he was alive, Oxford had only just decided to let women study their. They aren't complaining to bring down other statues for being sexist. Oxford is 900 years old. It's descrimitated against people based on race, sex, sexuality, religion in the past but these students still decided to go there. They don't refuse to study because Colleges have been funded by practices they dont agree with. How does this set the students up for life. Imagine going to a client and saying - "Hi, I know I was being paid to do groundbreaking research, however, the Russian's have made the discovery before us - but I'd like special consideration because I just found out that something happened in the past I didn't agree with"

Amongst other things they should never have got rid of the caine. Tory governments have been in charge while these institutions were given liberal and progressive leaderships. They are riven rull with 'useful idiots' and that's just the staff. Edited by Stirlingsays (16 Jun 2020 1.51pm)
